I was wondering if any of you have taken Dramamine in attempt to combat any nausea associate with a pharmahuasca trip. If so, are there any possible chemical reactions that could be detrimental? I plan on taking a 120mg dose with around 3 grams of capsules syrian rue as my MAOI.

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

Dramamine contains diphenhydramine and a fluorinated theophylline derivative; there is a risk of getting increased anticholinergic side effects with MAOIs/RIMAs and the antihistamine component (diphenhydramine) such as blurred vision, dry mouth, palpitations and sometimes confusion.
I am paranoid of my brain. It thinks all the time, even when I'm asleep. My thoughts assail me. Murderous lechers they are. Thought is the assassin of thought. Like a man stabbing himself with one hand while the other hand tries to stop the blade. Like an explosion that destroys the detonator. I am paranoid of my brain. It makes me unsettled and ill at ease. Makes me chase my tail, freezes my eyes and shuts me down. Watches me. Eats my head. It destroys me.

Hey corpus I believe the active is "dimenhydrinate", but they are extremely similar substances so the same warnings apply Pleased not to be nit picky or anything!

OP: here is my recommendation to you: instead of using a synthetic anticholinergic that has very little interaction information with caapi alkaloids, why not use a natural one with a long history of human use and has been succesfully mixed with ayahuasca for thousands of years probably?

I'm speaking of course of the tropane-bearing solanacae! Get a hold of some datura strommonium seeds (or other datura spp. But strammonium supposedly has the most consistent alkaloid levels. I usually use D. Wrightii -sacred datura - because I usually only collect the seeds in California and that's what I find). Brugmansia is used traditionally with caapi but I have never used it, so I can't give any advice. With datura, 1-5 seeds is enough for a strong antiemesis - scopolamine is probably a much more effective antiemetic- however 3 and up will change the nature of the trip (not in a bad way, it actually tends to make the visions clearer but with another influence present in the content).

I think you can get datura seeds online but I never have. It's a really common plant in the USA, as brugmanisa is in south America. I usually leave an offering of tobacco whenever I collect thorn-apples, I wouldn't want to incur the wrath of THIS seductress!

Not to sound critical or anything but why don't you juat allow yourself to purge normally?

I'ts just my opinion but I believe the purge is part of the experience and It may not be a good thing to try an interfere with that natural tripping process.

And why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not percieve the plank in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, "brother let me remove the speck from your eye", when you yourself do not see the plank that is in your own eye?-Yeshua ben Yoseph

i tried it out, did nothing for me. i personally like 2 00 capsules of ground ginger root and 2 pepto bismol capsules, makes the nausea pretty much mild stomach discomfort, and should you purge the ginger makes the taste not as terrible. I agree the purge is an important part of the experience, i had pretty much eliminated the nausea with a combo of 3 datura seeds/ginger/pepto bismol but found myself going back to old style and embracing the purge.

Dimenhydrinate is a salt of 2 drugs- diphenhydramine and 8-chlorotheophylline.So, rather than being a flourinated derivative of theophylline as I stated in my post, its actually a chlorinated derivative.Apologies for that, but hey, whats a halogen between fellow members of the DMT Nexus.Smile

lol well that's what I get for trying to correct a doctor about pharmaceuticals!Embarrased

Eliyahu brings up a very good point and I recommend you read the sticky in the ayahuasca section called "the feared and misunderstood purge". Lots of the medicine is in the purge, and tue cascading effects on the brain and body likely contribute something to the experience; hence why occasionally you see reports in which people say the purge coincides with the peak. I also saw a post with a link to a study in which a doctor took blood from people before and after purging from ayahuasca and the pH of their blood is much more basic (however I forget why that is good).

I've seen people talk about lemon essential oil as an antiemetic that is rather effective. But maybe it was some other oil, somebody else will have to confirm that.
