So, I took the plunge in a different way yesterday. We got to the sky dive place at 1pm. Filled out all the "you can't sue us" paperwork. Sat around for half an hour. Then sat in on a 10 minute class reviewing what we were about to do and how we were going to do it.

After that we waited for a couple hours for our turn, we got strapped up in our harness's and waited outside. I knew that now its real, now I am about to board a plane and jump out of it. I am definitely more nervous at this moment than the whole time before this. I am ready but also feeling unsure of what I am doing. It's now not an idea it's REAL.

So we walk across the runway, and load into the plane. We all get in and sit down. The plane takes off and starts to ascend. I took the next 10 minutes to watch the scenery and take it all in. It was beautiful. The ground got farther and farther away. Houses and roads and cars and people became ever so smaller. We ascended higher and higher into the air. After we got to 10,000 ft everyone started to get ready. The instructors tightening our harness's and making sure everything is hooked up correctly. It's ALMOST time. My heart is RACING!

My instructor tells me were at 13,000 ft and are about to go, he asks me "Are you ready to jump?" I say, with slight forced enthusiasm, "YES I AM". The side door rolls up. Two solo jumpers get ready to go first. A sound happens and everyone aims their attention at two lights. One red the other green. The red one is lit up, the green is not. When this happened i could feel everyone's tension. It was thick in the air.

We all kept our gaze to the lights. Time SLOWED down. It took forever for the green one to turn on it felt like. Finally, "ding" green light. The two solo jumpers looked at us, smiled, gave us a thumbs up, and nonchalantly dove out the door. This was intense in of itself. I felt like, "thats what I am about to experience, HOLY S#!T!"

1 by 1 a tandem jumper would scoot up to the door, and bail out into the world! It was happening so fast, and next thing I know its my turn. I scoot with the instructor up to the door, I get to the door and swing my legs out into the open air. It feels like were in position so I arched back like he told me to, and laid my head on his shoulder and looked up. It's NOW. This is about to happen!

No thoughts are in my mind. My mind is now tense like a muscle trying to hold on. Were in place, 1.. 2.. 3.. and he lurches forward, and sideways. I think.

As I accelerated up to 120mph, the feeling of being catapulted into the ground was like nothing I have ever experienced. I felt like I was dying and could do nothing about it. As soon as we became belly to ground, this feeling started washing away quickly. Right along with the acceleration. And NOW I felt the most amazing feeling ever. I felt like I wasn't falling anymore. I felt lots of wind, but it felt like i was floating. I was not scared, rather I was so emotional at how beautiful I felt and how everything looked I felt a strong urge to start crying!

I didn't however, but I could have started crying like a little girl. I was fully immersed in the feeling of love and living and life and beauty and everything amazing and everything that makes you throw your arms up and make you want to say "I LOVE!! I LOVE EVERYTHING!!!!" This feeling wouldnt have been possible without the feeling you get when you first leave the plane. This was AMAZING!

So then the instructor signaled me that he was about to pull the shoot. We just fell 8,000 ft and were about to deploy the shute at 5,000 ft. This next part I was not ready for...

I felt a HUGE jerk. The instructor made a sound as if he had been punched in the stomach. Right after I thought wow that was a lot harder than I thought it would be. Right then I noticed something wrong. We were kind of spinning. I looked up and the right side of the shute was not inflated completely and the lines looked slightly tangled up. I wasn't scared, was in kind of a Valium like content/high mode from all the intensity I just experienced.

I asked "Are we gonna be ok?" he replied with "Hold on a minute". I looked down and thought about the possibility of hitting the ground with no shoot. I also thought about the freefall I might be feeling again if we have to drop that shoot and then deploy the backup. I feel death as a possibility right now, I accept it but know that were probably going to be ok. He struggles to get it to inflate, but is successful and we start to slow down more.

The rest of the descent to the ground was like 5 minutes or so. It was calming and slow. We did some dives, and some spins. it was pretty cool but nothing like the first 8,000 ft. Touchdown, and were back to earth. Everything felt SURREAL. I felt sooo high, although I hadn't taken ANYTHING. most amazing experience in my life!

Thought I would share, was a pretty significant experience in my life. Falling to the earth, near death experience, accepted thought of possible death. I still feel hazy today.

After wards I had several fits of short bursts of laughter and an emotional feeling that I still cant really explain, all the rest of the night. I teared up a bit a couple times, and had to fight these tears of joy to keep them from coming.

Anyone else jump before? What you think about the shoot not opening all the way hehehe pretty life opening for me hehehehe

If you have the ability to do it, DO IT Thumbs up

Thanks for sharing that.

I have a skydivers license and jump quite regularly, ( weather permiting) First time is a real buzz that one never forgets. The phenomena of a few side cells not inflating on the canopy is quite common. Your pilot just pulled on the rear risers to inflate them.

It's a nice sport, the adrenaline rush is always there, even if the proceedure seems mundane after hundreds of jumps.

DMT scares me way more! must be that endless sense of "possibility"

Tattvamasi: awesome man, I definitely recommend it. Nothing like it.

Arcanum: I was actually wanting to dose tonight so I can relate the two. Although my current stand point is that skydiving anxiety is much stronger for me. Awesome that your licensed man thats cool. How many jumps do you have?

Afterwards I bought a log book so I can log my jumps if/when I do it again. I do want to, but the second time I feel is gonna still be hard regardless. Thanks for reporting on what went wrong, the guy seemed exhausted from doing so many jumps he didnt really go into detail about the issue we had.

a1lpha thats awesome! I wanted to get pics or video but they wanted almost a hundred dollars and I need money for the beach trip this next weekend. Thanks for sharing the pic i am assuming thats you. So awesome man!

my gf did however, get pics from the ground. i will post a couple when i get done with some errands!

Sky diving is phenomenal aye bro, i always tell first timers of DMT to compare the experiences, as there is not much like them.

Year on i can still imagine myself looking out that hatch door, and get butterflies of free fall.
Peace

My one and only jump was 22 years ago but the memory is crystal clear. That feeling of being suspended on a column of rushing air is like no other. Watching the Earth get gradually closer is a real perspective broadening experience... On the one hand it made me feel tiny... On the other hand, my perspective felt huge and universal. It was a real rush.

Unfortunately, i have only made two jumps over the coarse of my 35 years of existing on this planet. One time sober and one time while on shrooms. Both times where absolutely extatic Big grin and if i would have the resources, i´d definately make a habbit out of it (it aint cheap).

I´ve noticed then, that skydivers tend to have a sort of vitality that you normally only see in young childeren, even when they´re way over 50.

I think it´s good for your health, both physically and psychologically, to have extatic experiences on a regular basis.

Maybe a good saying would be: a jump a day keeps shrink and doctor away Stop .

Like many psychedelic´s, you will likely experience something of an afterglow..adrenaline, endorphine´s, dopamine...who knows what, but it´s definately there.

Congratulations with your wonderfull experience anrchyThumbs up

HAHA If I will try this I will hold my horses and not kill the only man that can save my life...joking Smile

The only extreme things I could do would be those on the ground.I am really afraid of heights.
Maybe Bungee-jumping.

If I would have to free fall from 13.000 ft I would probably hav3e a bad surprise for the folks on the ground :\

You went on shrooms??? Holy F***!

What size of dose? I know for a fact I would never be able to do this. Thats just a little more than I want. Seems kind of dangerous as well. Please, what was it like?

Thank you for all the great responses. It was an amazing experience and it was fun telling you guys about it. I also am enjoying hearing about everyone else's experiences too. Never knew so many nexians have gone!

So apparently my brother told my mom. Now she wants to go. And her birthday is coming up and my brother suggested we surprise her with a skydive for her birthday. I cannot even get close to actually imagining my mother doing this. This is crazy. So it looks like I might be going again soon. I am slightly apprehensive about it, but it was fun and I shouldnt be scared off. So I guess I'll take the plunge again. THIS time I am gonna pay to have it filmed.

I don´t exactly remember the dose (i was 18 years old then), but obviously i didn´t take a very high dose, as you have to be able to follow the instructions of the guy you´re attached to (it was a tandem-jump on both occasions). I think it must have been around 1.5 grams of dried cubensis.

I can only describe the experience itself as pure extasy. The endless space around you, the thick air....i think i never felt as free as those moments when i was flying. Probably the closest thing to actually being superman. The only moment that i felt anything like fear, was when the parachute had opened and i was hanging there and i started to realise how easy it would be to just cut myself loose and do some more of that 'flying'. Skydiving is such an intense experience by itself that a bit of shrooms doesn´t realy alter it, it just makes it feel much more intense: i mean, you can not realy let your thoughts drift away while skydiving, or enter other worlds. The experience is just too penetrating for that. So you just feel it ten times more intense. Pure freedom, euphoria, extasy. Like jim morrison would say: limitless and free.

The strangest thing was when i had landed physically. For hours on i felt as if i was still up there, as if i was still flying. That was realy weird...being on the ground physically but being still up there mentally.

Thats awesome. Yes i agree that your mind cant really wander while falling. The experience commands your attention so much, and in a way that I couldn't drift on to other ideas about anything except for what I was doing.

It's still heavily on my mind even still today. I cant stop thinking about it, visualizing it, feeling it. So amazing. Definitely my fav experience so far. Right up there with DMT.

Life is so amazing.

When i did this, digital photography was in it´s infancy, or at least not available yet on the consumer market. I just took a picture of one of the photo´s made when i had just landed. As a picture of a picture, it´s a bit unsharpRazz

Very astute observation polytrip,Thumbs up ( health, youthfulness, afterglow) that's what keeps me doing it, really worth the negligible risk ( statisticaly speaking)

That report was wonderful. The description of your anxiety on the plane... you really put me in that experience. It must've been incredible.
Every day I am thankful that I was introduced to psychedelic drugs.
