I don't know if this is necessarily true. Heptane is much easier to work with yes, because hexane evaporates so quickly that it makes it difficult to slow the process down enough to get big crystals. However, hexane is slightly more selective against the heavier yellow oils though, so in some ways it is better for purification purposes(if you can keep it liquid long enough). I think if your goal is to purify, hexane would be better. If you want to grow large crystals, heptane is far superior. every solvent seems to serve a certain purpose. Love this thread, and I agree with those who said this is better than porn.(I don't watch it anyways). I happen to have a 4L bottle of hexane that I just cracked to purify my 60+ grams crude product, but I think I will be purchasing heptane for growing large xtals afterwards. I also think working with such a large amount should make it real easy to get some perfectly white shards of lovliness. I'll post those here in the future and perhaps start a thread on hexane versus heptane for recrystallizing, Though I'm not sure how useful that information really is considering the extreme lack of availability of hexane to the general public. I'll just save a bit of my crude for the experiment and try it anyways, I'm curious about the affect of chain length on the solubility characteristics of DMT as well as temperature for each. That together with the solubility characteristics of freebase spice in caustic aqueous solutions and the effect of ionic strength as well. With all that solubility info we could optimize our techniques and design teks for plant sources with much less spice in them and be able to get reasonable yields, but I digress... I still have 1 pull left to do first, and I'm having a local glassblower custom build me a recrystallization jar with a narrow bottom and large capacity, but designed to work with any quantity up to 100 g at a time. I just went on a very intense changa journey last night. This was the first time I had broken through as powerfully as with the crystal using changa. I had left my exploring behind me for a little while and just recently got the desire to come back to this world and this time actually join this community for real. It's nice to see how much the skill levels of some people on here have so drastically improved, and seeing old pupils now teaching the newcomers the tricks they have all learned along the way. I love this forum. Sorry for running on with this so long, just got a lot to say.

naphtha re-X of some freeze precip spice yielded these guys, not sure how i got shards since i did not seed. ironically i seeded the current Re-x i have now with one of the small shards and have a sea urchin growing.

Evil!!!! Those are they most beautiful coffin shaped xtals I have seen yet! Damn good work. How long did you evap them to grow so well? Do you have any idea what i can do to try to get that same shaped crystals? I've tried really slow evaps but always end up with sea urchins. I want to grown what you have there but only have a month before UI leave the states. Any thoughts?

no clue, i just did a re-X w/ naphtha on some freeze precip'ed spice in a shotglass, left it uncovered in a cabinet, and a week later had those. i have tried a few other Re-x attempts and always get sea urchins repeating the same steps.

damn clean fumarates endless! i might have to pick some anhydrous acetone at ace next time i go there, FASA seems the way to go. was thata Re-X or just a salting?

Jorkest, yeh just growing in shelite(naptha) I keep it on a aquarium heat pad at like 15 d.c takes like 2 days or more.

Okay folks here is a nice yellow oily STB shard that is headed right into changa jar.

Not real pretty, I guess if I wasnt making changa, I would clean it up a bit. The person I am doing this batch for likes it a bit jungley.

Its going into a mix that uses 25x caapi extract as the base. The ratio is 1 gram of caapi extract : .75 grams of spice, 1:.75

the piece weighs 1.60 grams
