IF your talking about making ecstasy....I don't believe it's easy at all as far as I'm aware.

I think it may fall along the lines of chemical synthesis which generally is not discussed on the nexus because it can require highly watched and dangerous chemicals.

Is what worth it? You haven't asked anything really.

im not trying to produce ecstasy. and safrole is not perticularly harmful.

In that role safrole, like many naturally occurring compounds may have a small but measurable ability to induce cancer in rodents. However, the effects in humans if any are similar or less than risks posed by breathing indoor air or drinking municipally supplied water."

I basically want to preform an extraction cause i have a bit of time on my hands and i understand that it is an active chemical.

I want to know if anyone has done this or knows an effective method.

Safrole and sassafrass aren't really psychoactive. You can make a tea with the roots that tastes like unsweetened rootbeer and has a nice warming effect but that's about the only real use for it. You can do a kind of low grade oil extraction by boiling the root in a pot with an upside down lid filled with ice on top and cup in the middle of the pot, the steam/oil from the root will gather on the inside of the icey lid and drip into the cup for a kind of ghetto-style sassafrass oil, again this oil is not psychoactive and may even be carcinogenic.

Is it worth it?

So an extraction of saffrole won't be easy at all since it has no basic amine or acidic side chain. A/B extraction is out of the question. Alcohol tincture? Perhaps.

So I guess I'd say it's probably not worth it unless you are really interested in learning a good bit about chemical purification and separation (or a simple alcohol tincture). If so then hell yes do it and report back, but don't expect to just find a TEK laying around to do this...unless I'm wrong and have completely missed it.
