They may not be the same, but they're awfully similar, and not just on the technicality of a name. The last time I took shrooms, I could have sworn I had taken ayahuasca. If someone would have put it in a pill and gave it to me, I would have guessed it was oral DMT by the visuals and effects.
In regards to the OP, I have changed dramatically since the beginning of my DMT use. I have a far greater respect for Egypt after having numerous grand Egyptian visions. I have a more balanced approach to life. It's easier to roll with the punches and deal with anxiety. My visual perception has adapted to detect fractal structures in a fractal environment. Many topics including philosophy have become much more appealing and sensible as DMT can tend to thrust one straight to the core of classic philosophical matters. I'm sure there is much that I'm missing, but that's a short overview for now.
