Is there any possibility to get only the ceramic GVG filter element or a 1:1 substitute?

I could get a pipe in the same exact style handcrafted for much less money than a GVG including shipping to Europe and customs handling / taxes would cost me which is extremely upsetting. Having no wholesaler for Europe for those specific glass products (while the usual VaporGenies are widely available) is nothing I generally want to support if it is avoidable even if the public opinion towards the product is pretty clear.

I recently ordered a classic Vaporgenie and bought a torchlighter. I must say I'm pretty excited to try it out with my Changa mix.

i finally went out and got myself a VG. The place I got it from was out of screens at the moment so i put a small amount of weed underneath the dmt, i sprinkled probably 20 mgs on top and held my lighter over the top. I noticed it has a very deep tunnel before it hits the ceramic. I held it over the top a few cms and didnt feel a thing, not even a rush. So i pulled the flame a little further in and was noticing that i was getting vapor but it was nothing close to the rush of hitting the dmt by freebase. I'm wondering if im doing something wrong?

It may take a few goes to get technique down and find the right flame position and inhalation speed for you.

Personally I have the flame (jet lighter, Turboflame Arc) touching the ceramic. I warm the block for a fraction of a second before starting to inhale. Inhaling faster will reduce the temperature (more cool air being pulled in).

What kind of lighter are you using?

Ok, so I tried vaping some DMT in my GVG and I had some problems. I made the little copper pad thing and put the dmt on top of it. I then put the flame(turboarc torch) pretty much into the bowl and I saw all the dmt just melt and go right thru the copper pad. I then started inhaling as fast as I can and I held what little vapor there was for about 10 seconds. I then exhaled and didn't really see any vapor come out. I then layed down and closed my eyes and got some light CEV's for about 2 minutes.

I'm guessing that I put the flame to far into the bowl to fast and the DMT got to hot to fast and just melted? Should I keep the flame farther away from the bowl and let it heat up slowly?

Thoughts on this please. I don't want to waste anymore spice.

Don't inhale as fast as possible, try to take a nice long slow toke. If you pull to fast you are pulling a lot of air through.

Inhale easier, but on other hand you should try making it more thick and pressed, also make sure it's perfect fit to the bowl size(not too small or big). It takes a bit practice to find the perfect sized screen.

Yeah, I did it pretty fast, the entire process of inhaling and watching all the dmt melt was probably like 3 seconds.

So, when I saw it all melt...did it basically just crawl down the hole into the bottom of the vaporgenie? Is it still there? Can I recover it?

Ok, I will try to make a thicker copper pad and give it another go. I want it so bad......

The DMT is meant to melt into the copper screen before vaping, it will still be in there somewhere.

I take about 10 secs to take my hit, so I think 3secs might be a bit quick. Just give it time and a few trials and you will get it down.

Ok got it. I guess there is nothing I can really do except keep trying and learning.

You can always clean the pipe with a clean evaporating organic solvent like IPA or something. This will dissolve the spice that has stuck to the bend in the pipe and after pouring out the solvent on a surface it can be evaporated away, leaving your 'lost' product.

behindthelight, just a couple observations/questions. In my own experience, flame actually into the ceramic causes the dmt to turn dark brown and inhaling too hard too fast causes the liquid which is supposed to be vaporizing to be drawn into the smoke chamber. Cleaning and reclaiming with 99 IPA is easy, but better to just draw in slow and steady maybe?

Didn't read that you were doing the little pre melt 4 second draw just to melt the spice into the scrubber. Someone had mentioned the spice vaped easier after melting so I always make sure that step isn't skipped. As soon as I see the spice melt into the scrubber, flame off, I wait a little bit, collect my thoughts, breath and then go for it. I never let the flame touch the glass or the stone and I launch every single time. 3 seconds to inhale is probably another reason for your misfire, like the others have said, I too think it is at least 10 seconds of pulling that produces a vapor filled chamber, after the premelt of course.

I ordered the "Glass Vapor genie Bat"... Is the Bat model appropriate, for proper use with Dimitry?

I would have gotten instead the carved wooden vaporgenie for the same price... You can find discussion about the bat using search.

You'll get frustrated with the glass bat. It's a holiday today, so you might still have time to change the order.
