so SWIM recently started trying an a/b extraction. this is his first extraction. he followed the marsofold tek fairly closely, but not exactly.
he adjusted the ratios of white-vinegar and water solution to be equivalent to his 4 ounces of mhrb. but during his first session of soaking the mhrb in 1/2 of his solution alot of it evaporated because of the crockpot. so he just put the last half of his solution in and was careful for it not to evaporate.
then he let the liquid sit overnight, and poured out the less pulpy solution that was left on the top, leaving a layer of what he guesses was root bark on the bottom.
he then places this solution into a wine bottle and poured in a lye/water solution with appropriate ratios from the marosofold tek, and mixed it up. he then put a small amount of warm water in the mix to accompany the small length of his pipette. he then filled the rest up with naptha(which wasn't much) and did several pulls. mixing and sometimes shaking -- although the emulsions always seperated themselves after they sat for a minute.
he then placed his pulls in the freezer for appox 20 hours and there was barely one small little snowglobe in it. he poured off the naptha and attempted to collect the snowglobe but it just melted. so he did a few more pulls from the wine bottle -- which he placed another tbsp of lye in after the first round of pulls -- and put them together with the leftover naptha that was in the freezer. currently he is evaporating off some of the content so that maybe the solution will become a little more dense.

so why did hardly any crystals precipitate? did SWIM do something wrong? should SWIM get a bigger yield this next time when he freezes it? he was hopeing for around half a gram of spice, but is quickly losing hope. help please!

Was the basified solution a nice oily gloopy inky black? swim's first extraction didn't work because he didn't basify far enough. Also, when he tried doing a freeze precipitation the first five 100ml pulls didn't precip ANYTHING! So he put each 100ml of naphtha into a jar in a bowl of boiling water, enough to heat it up nicely then he pulled with that hot naphtha. This resulted in a yellowy-orange naphtha at the end rather than a very pale green, which yielded a good amount in the freezer after only a few hours So perhaps hot naphtha?

he'll try that after he freeze precips his current pulls if that doesn't work. his base was an oily brownish color.
SWIM should basically be able to pull from this as many times as he needs to without losing any dmt from it sitting around, right?

evaporate much further before sticking in the freezer, not just a little bit. If original amount was, say, 200ml, then evap it down to 50 or something

Just saying; swim didn't need to evaporate at all and ended up with much more precip than expected - this was with 100-200ml naphtha per 4l of basic solution. Though that's not to say that there might be more in the solvent that could be caught by evaporating and then freezing or somesuch.

so SWIM evaporated off about 2/3 of his liquid and was left with maybe like 20-30 ml. after an overnight and half-day freeze he had a ton of crystals(atleast compared to what he has gotten so far). a very nice sight. he is going to keep swapping it between the fridge and freezer for another day or two, with the majority of time in the freezer.
