Hey everyone, I am getting ready to start on my first ayahuasca brew. I still have a couple questions that I couldnt find the answer to online so I am hoping some of you can help me out. First off, I know aluminum is off-limits, why? Because I might be brewing using pots made out of it. And second, when I am straining the liquid do I strain all the liquid into a separate pot and just keep combining it or do I filter the brew back into the same pot and just put fresh water in it? Thirdly, I have 50g chacruna and 110g caapi, would I be better off using all the caapi seeing as how it might lead to better absorbtion? And lastly, should a tbsp of lemon or lime juice per 2.5 liters of water be good? Sorry for being such a newbie or sounding like one, I just need to gather as much info as possible before I really go through with this. Much appreciated!

I forget exactly why aluminum is off-limits. I believe it has something to do with some kind of byproduct that's produced. When you're straining, you can strain into a different pot or container, but don't put it back in with the plant material. Put that off to the side, and then refill the pot with plant material with fresh water. You'll keep on repeating the process of boiling, filtering, and combining. Finally at the end, you'll have all your combined boils which you'll then heat one last time to reduce.

I'm really no caapi expert, but since this is last minute, I'll tell you what I can. You'd probably be fine with 50g, but maybe what you'll wanna do is brew it all and then you can drink half. If it looks like you should drink more later on, it's there for you, and if not you can refrigerate it.

The tbsp of lemon juice is at your discretion, but that should be fine as well. Good luck, let us know how it goes, or if you have any other questions or need clarification.

The potency of B. caapi varies widely, with doses ranging from 10 - 100+ grams. So it is best to become familiar with your material before jumping into the deep end!

As Global suggested, I'd recommend starting with no more than 50 grams.

Definitely don't use aluminum. It's just not a clean metal, both health-wise (linked to Alzheimer's and other conditions) and on a more subtle energetic level. You can get a big stainless steel pot at most grocery or department stores for $20 or less.

Be patient, enjoy the process, and don't hesitate to ask more questions Smile
