Hi

I'm in the situation, that I don't have a balcony or a garden, so it's necessary for me to make the DMT-extraction indoors Neutral
Now, I don't want to get naphtha fumes indoors (safety&smell). So I'm thinking about doing the extraction, using a glass jar where the mixture of Mimosa and Naphtha can be placed, and then be heated up in a water-bath, (or should this be avoided?) I don't want anything to blow up

I got the idea from a thread on shroomery.org but the site is down right now. Anyway, I would not do it before checking with all of you

Also I'm using the Q21Q21's Vinegar/Lime A/B Extraction Tek (if that makes any difference)

Okay, now, Post replies! Very happy I need my medicine

Naptha isn't nearly as volatile or offensive smelling as other solvents. Heptane is even less offensive if you can use that. As long as you keep some windows open and maybe a fan going, you should be okay. Naptha is used for a lot of stuff, from bbq to lighter fluid to getting goo from stickers off of stuff. Your neighbors probably won't even notice the smell coming out of your widows, but they may see you doing something that they consider strange if you do it outside.
Another thing to consider is that you are using the q21q21 tek, which is fast, efficient and provides good yields, so you won't be doing it very often. A lot of people get over 1.5% yields with it, so if you extract from 100grams of mhrb, you could get ~1.5 grams. Which should last you quite awhile. So, don't worry, your neighbors won't think you are running a meth lab.
I wouldn't do a hot water bath with a sealed jar, because pressure could build and you could end up with a mess. You can pour the initial pull off after as little as 15 minutes, so you won't have super long exposure. Naptha really isn't that bad, compared to the nastiness of xylene.

Good ventilation and no open flames or smoking. And no heating over open flame or active electric elements. Just remember that and you'll be okay.

Let us know how things go.

Why are you heating the naphtha anyways? There's really no need, specially if you are working in places that arent well ventilated.

Also just how do you expect putting mimosa/naphtha in a glass will help you out with fumes ???

Why not going for some solvent like limonene instead, then, if you dont want to inhale petrochemicals or call your neighbour's attention?

Endlessness: I thought it was a requirement to heat up the naphtha, so that more DMT is able to dissolve into it.

By putting a lid on it. Sorry if i was vague in my original post.

And yeah I thought about Limonene too, but if I'm not mistaking, it will be quite impure and in need to be washed

ister_Niles: Okay, if I end up going with the jar-idea, I'll not heat it.
And I have made 1 extraction before this one, and I remember that quite alot of the Naphtha evaporated, but yeah, maybe I'm just exaggerating the hazards of Naphtha

And yes, I'll let you all know how things go Smile

Mitchi, you're not really evaporating enough naptha that it is likely to be a problem.

When you extract using the naptha, that is in a sealed container. Then when you freeze the naptha to get the crystals, the container is also sealed. You pour off the naptha (presumably back into the original sealed container) and the only naptha that has to evaporate is what is still stuck to the crystals and container. Not likely to be too dangerous or noticeable. Of course, don't smoke or have any sparks nearby, but that would also be true for say refilling a cigarette lighter.

I live in an apartment with plenty of close neighbors, and I have done several types of extractions using naptha without any problems. Now, if you use too much naptha and have to evaporate some of it to get crystals then that might in fact be a problem. Disposing of the naptha can also be somewhat tricky. I generally put it in a sealed bottle with some kitty litter and then dispose of that in a dumpster.
