My friend doesn't have the cash for a GVG but he found one of these ceramic vapo bowls which sound like they might do the job. It will screw onto the bowl of any pipe or bong and turn them into a vapouriser.

Its only £10 so its a bargain if it works, but I can't find an image of the ceramic filter to compare it to the one in a GVG.

Has anyone used or seen one of these?

He will be receiving it on weds so I will post his thoughts about its efficiency when he has tried it out.

Basically if it is like a wooden VG top piece then that one is awesome! I hope it works, I might order one and make a "VG bong".

PLEASE report back!

I was hoping that's exactly what it will be, but there seems to be no pics of the ceramic.

I will report back ASAP.

People have done this with wooden VGs (google vaporgenie bong), but this sure would save us some cash.

I have found a review:

Quote:
β€œGreat for DMT.

Do you find the bulb harsh and ghetto? Do you burn the spice on a regular pipe or bong and obtain that disgusting plastic taste? Do you find the Glass Vaporgenie a ripoff?

Get this, attach to your regular pipe. Put about 6 screens in the bowl, and the DMT over them. Screw the Vapobowl back, and hold a regular butane lighter just above the Vapobowl, no need to get the flame inside.

If your pipe is transparent, you will see a stream of vapor hitting you, but it will be almost not noticeable. Just like breathing some warm air. Almost no taste, and just the indolic flowery smell from DMT, not the burnt rubber you get from burning it.

Just the way to go for DMT.”

If this device is using the same ceramic as in the GVG though, you have a (very cheap) winner there !
You could then even throw the spice on top of the ceramic stone and vaporize without having to open the chamber.
If you try it that way, though, keep the torch very high above the stone and get it lower until the spice melts, then start toking slowly but steadily.

Another alternative would be to get a ceramic stone, put it in a bowl, and either vaporize directly on top of the stone (works VERY well), or stick a copper mesh below...
You can get big stones from HSG at Aqualab (25$ w/o shipping), but an even cheaper solution would be to buy a Stainless Coil VaporGenie (25$ w/ shipping) and strip it to pieces (easy.)

If one has 75$+ to spare for a DMT scientific glass slide, all the Health Stone Glass products will work wonders with DMT (freebase only though, no changa w/ those.)

I haven't even used the GVG in two weeks since I first vaped spice on my Health Stone Handvape...

hello Silly(c)One, i wont be able to test the crystals on top method as i only use Jimjam, so i will have to leave that up to someone else to try.

Would you mind telling me why you only have jim jam ? I'm just curious, don't answer if you don't want to.

What does your jim jam look like ? Doesn't it melt and vaporize like white spice does ?
I think that method works for anything spicey except herbs (changa).
Anything that melts is ok for the ceramic stone, HSG designed his pipes for smoking cannabis oil, and I'm pretty sure BHO doesn't vaporize as cleanly as DMT or jim jam...

Silly(c)One my bother i dont mind telling you at allVery happy

i like to take as much of the active substances from the MHRB as possible, i believe, rightly or wrongly, that it will give to me more of an experience of the plant without having to drink a full brew and therefore i dont have to spend several hours on a journey, i now also never just smoke Jimjam on its own, i always combine it with some hamala's.

My jimjam is extracted using the Q21 tek and it comes out as a brownish goo, i then infuse it into mullien as the goo is just to difficult to work with and the infused mullien is a pleasure to handle.

Who sells the Stainless Coil for $25? Cheapest I've seen is $35 direct from VG.

o_O you're right ziggus, they must have changed the price... I bought mine for 25$, I'm sure of that... I guess the cheapest stones are the HSG at 25$ then.

3rdI, thanks for the explanations, that was instructive. I love to know why people are doing things Pleased

morning folks,

i popped round to my mates last night to get a pic of the bowl and this is what i got

(sorry, they're not the best as the focus on his camera was playin up, but this will have to do for now, i will get a better one next time i go round)

from what i can tell its definately some kind of ceramic filter but it looks a little different from the one in my GVG. The differences i could see were as follows....

1. It was not cut as cleanly as the GVG filter, all i could compare it to was the difference between a natural sponge and a bath sponge. The natural sponge has a more textured/rugged appearance compared to the smooth cut flat bath sponge.

2. the air bubbles where a little bigger inside the Vapo Bowl ceramic filter than they are in the GVG. I think the GVG is denser.

The vapo bowl filter is more like this...

where as the GVG filter is more like this...

He hasnt tested it yet but when he does, or when i have, i will report back with the results.

I think it looks good and it is defo a ceramic filter, just maybe one of a slightly lower quality than the one in a GVG. It is also a bit more shiney than the GVG filter.

I will buy one when i next get paid and take it apart to get a better look at it. (i think think it would be possible to use the filter alone to knock up a system to fit in a regular glass pipe which would be good.)

Its only £10 so get going Nexians, time for some field tests.

More dense ceramic would mean more heat filtering, at least if it's the same material... I'll go with the wooden vaporgenie if I'll decide to make a vaporizer bong... Also if it's not precisely cut it will let heat through. I'm sure it works but I doubt that equally well as the VG, especially with torch lighter.

Altough if one wants to save cash and use bic type lighter I think it will work OK.

Or am I wrong that the filter in the vapo bowl passes more heat through?

im not 100% on this, it looks like a ceramic filter but it is a little shinier but that doesnt mean its not the same.

My instinct is that is isnt going to be as good as it will let more heat through and be a little harder to regulate a constant temp, but i think it will still be quite effective with practice.

i think it will pass more heat but its not tested yet.

It definately looks worth £10 (in a good way)

I wouldn't recommend these at all I recieved one recently and before using it for spice I randomly decided to light it empty and I'm glad I did, I got a big mouthfull of smoke the so called cermaic caught fire and melted. Not sure what damage inhaling that would cause. Tasted disgusting and left bad taste in mouth.

These are no good IMO.

Red and yellow then came to be,
reaching out to me, lets me see.
There is so much more and it beckons me to look though to these,
infinite possibilities.

Yeah I was hoping it would be a good option as well, the ceramic crumbled in my hand when I took it out.
