So its my first time, but In reducing my caapi brew I kept getting a thin film on the surface and along the inside of the pan. I scraped it all off and after pouring my brew off I had a bunch of this thick chunky stuff.

I figured out that I just had it too hot but now I'm wondering what to do with this caramelized caapi? Is it active? What I've found about it people say its burnt sugars, should I just eat some and find out what happens?

Hi

Just as a reference, check this traditional preparation video:

Is something like this you call caramelized?

Not quite. The rest of my brew was still fairly watery consistency but this thin film on the surface would stick to my spoon and so i'd collect it togeter with the spoon and it would sink to the bottom.

I've got it in a little jar by itself, it's similar to resin scraped from a bong if that helps, but a little denser.

I can't help regarding the contents of the caramel itself (if potent or not), but I would say that in a traditional preparation I've never seen this happen because the brew is stirred constantly (well, not exactly stirred because of the layers in the pan, but they are constantly being agitated with a big metal cup) - maybe you should try stirring more often. There are some sweet recipes (totally unrelated to ayahuasca, of course) where you have to keep stirring with a wooden spoon non stop for an hour - not the most glorious task, so one should expect some work on a brew.

BTW, I hope you're not scrapping an aluminum pan, for health sake.

That's probably it, thanks sbarret77.
Yeah I didn't stir it like hardly at allEmbarrased
I'm guessing to not be wasteful I should eat it with drinking the brew and expect some nausea for my laziness.

No it's stainless steel thanks for looking out.

Instead of starting a new thead i thought i would chip into this one.

I had some thick black goo (exactly like the video) left over from the first time i brewed up some vine along with some Chakruna. Instead of throwing it away i decided to extract it, i used the Gibran2 hamala tek and i had some success.

What happened when i extracted this black goo was exactly what happens when i have used this tek before except that the Hamala's(?) are much darker in colour than when i have extracted from Vine or Rue on its own.

Now, i am guessing that the alks are darker due to presence of the chakruna, would i be right?

Im pretty sure i should have tried to get as much of this goo back into my Aya as possible and i think that the resulting weak brew was because of this fact.

I dont want to waste these alks so i will try them in the future, i was just wondering if anyone had any experioence with this situation.

cheers
