I just want to apologize for my drunken antics in the chat room a few days ago.
I don't know where else to post this.
But I just wanted to apologize.

No need to apologize friend! Sometimes you gotta have a drink. I guess. Having one now. At the inlaws house. No weed around.

But crikey, alcohol sure is stupid!

This 100% especially when taken overboard, which I tend to do from time to time, and I always end up making stupid decisions. Sad

oh, so it's alcohol that's stupid, huh?
nothing about the users, eh?
I've never seen a bottle of everclear jump off the shelf and drunk dial anyone, get in a fight with other bottles of booze, or get behind the wheel of a car.

no, but it sure does feel like a crappy ass method of intoxication to me. Even light doses of alcohol feel gross for me and so I concider it to definatly be a lesser drug.

That can be said for any intoxicating substance, that it's all in how the person ingesting it reacts. It's just that alcohol has an extremely bad track record for turning pretty regular "normal" people into raging, violent lunatics. Maybe it becomes a learned reaction, who knows, but some people are "mean" drunks. And no matter who you are, if you ingest enough alcohol your decision making is going to be impaired. Again, could be said of a lot of other things as well, just people tend to abuse alcohol more than most other substances that would produce the same sorts of effects.

What was my point? Not sure. But my opinion is that alcohol stinks (literally and figuratively) as an intoxicant or drug. Nasty body load, dehydration, blurred vision, slurred speech, impaired coordination, impaired thinking in general Very happy Then you wake up with the worst headache and nausea. Yuk I say.

Perhaps people like us just don't react well (or the same as the majority of people) to alcohol because I feel the same way. Even a glass of wine can have me feeling gross. Like I've had something poisonous, but obviously in a small amount. I get clammy and my face flushes, so I do think I also have an allergic reaction to it. But even without that, I see how "normal" people get after a night of drinking. Doesn't seem like a fun time to me.

Now, sitting around a fire, eating some mushrooms and smoking some nice cannabis, playing some music...now that's a fun time. Smile

Well I don't blame anything but myself for picking up the drink in the first place.
It's difficult for me to stop at one drink. For me, one drink is too many and a thousand is never enough. I tend to binge when it comes to alcohol. I have alcoholics in my family so it runs in the family, but I don't buy that a person is an alcoholic solely due to their genes.

funny, I feel the same way about MDMA.
it's not so much the alcohol that's poisonous (though it can be), it's the acetaldehyde buildup that's rather toxic.
by the way...ethanol is a product of normal human metabolism, just so you know.

Laughing

It all depends entirely on the person ingesting. I can have one mixed drink and be relaxed and in a "flowing" type mind-state and write real well and conversate pretty well.

But if I go past that line I will start to experience most of those undesired effects that turn me and so many people here off alcohol.

I think the most useful purpose for alcohol is as a shared experience with "normal" folks. Here I am at the inlaws house for a week with a horde of cousins, and the beer/campfire motif is actually pretty awesome under these circumstances. But nobody in this group gets excessive or uncivilized. In another group, the same equation could be awful.

And if course you can say this about many substances. The reality is that no single standard can be applied across the whole population when it comes to any substance. We are all so different. It's upon each of us to figure out what works or doesn't work, and to try making smart decisions.

But if I never had another drop in my life, I wouldn't miss it. Long as there's weed around.
