is there anything one can do to facilitate the process of "callousing" your cuttings?
like pat them down with paper towels or something?
or just let them sit? also is it cool for them to sit in the sun, or is artificial light better until they callous.

i read yesterday that you should cut your cacti in the dry warm/hot spring/summer part of the year so they won't rot or get infected and will dry and then pup it up.

actually, it was on this site

i've taken cuttings every winter, as long as they are moved to a dry location you'll be fine
also i've never used sulfur powder or a fan blowing on the cut end (which you'd likely want to do in a more humid climate, or worried about it)

keep cuttings in a cool dry space with little or no sun, i've stored cuttings for months in a closet, on my fridge, outside in a green house, under the porch

Parshvik Chintan, be sure to take as large a cutting as possible, TBM root much faster with more mass
leave at least get one or more areoles, or it wont throw pups
