This has been bothering me for quite some time.

I only hear people talk about "weed" in a "mild" way, nothing to be taken too serious.Well, I'd beg to differ.

Starting with my first experience(time flies---has been some years), I did everything by the book. From the quality of the product to the intensity of the flame, even the inhaling(deep take, hold for around 20 seconds, exhale slowly, repeat 2 more times). I like to inform myself really well before trying anything. After everything is done, it is time to sit down and lean back...no more than 5-10 minutes later it kicks in like the most beautiful splash of fantasy one could imagine. It's almost the same thing every time(the beginning). A window like opening shows and when it opens I go straight through it as if a dam is opened and water floods the gates. After that I control my breathing like I do in meditation while focusing my whole self in the middle of my head and slowly turning what seems to be an eye upwards towards the tip of my head. That is followed by what seems to be this fast acceleration through this interesting space. I can control the direction and the speed to some degree. Interestingly enough, if I choose to go in the same direction let's say the second "trip" it is the same landscape, more like the same place, but if I choose to turn and change direction the scenary changes.

The whole time during the meditation session(enhanced by cannabis) my eyes are shut and I do it in a dark and extremely quiet room. When the effects start to wear off I simply start to slowly come back "in my head" and I open my eyes slowly. If I could draw the landscapes I would they are incredibly beautiful and "alien like" especially the seas...I could probably draw how it looks from above, like a simple map.

I do have to mention that I do not smoke often, very seldom(3-5 times a year), but when I do I take care that everything is right(set and setting).

I would like to read your take on this.

I told a couple of friends about this and they kind of laughed because they just feel euphoric and the usual effects of weed.

Is it, somewhat, normal? The thing that I find most interesting is the place I go to when I do these enhanced meditation sessions. Always the same as far as I can tell...

I am looking forward to your replies.

Thank you

If you eat it especially it can be extremely powerful. Altough hallucinations are somewhat mild but possible.

I think this is the right way to do Cannabis.

Sparingly, but incredibly intensely.

I've had proper mushroom-like OOBE's smoking a few grams before. Its a pretty neat experience, but i always feel like im in the 'kiddy pool' if it gets that far on Cannabis.

the trips do not compare to salvia trips or shrooms, granted, but they are a whole other experience, the clarity of mind that I am in and the possibility to remember everything is so great...and the "aloneness", that feeling of "am I the only one here? nice" and everything looks like it has been left alone for eons, no interventions whatsoever.

back when i first started smoking it used to be very psychedelic.. but in a different way to the classic psychedelics. but it sure was a journey. always enjoyed doing it out in my room which was a shed in the garden, and just sitting outside, closing my eyes and enjoying the patterns

these days it has a completely different effect and doesn't take me there at all

Cannabis is a psychedelic IMO. Take/smoke a very large amount with little tolerance and it will radically alter you're reality, but it seems to vary between individuals

Smoking is just as powerful really.. It all just comes down to how much you take, and the hallucinations can be very intense

have you tried 'resetting' your tolerance?
i spent a week on meager rations(didn't even have to stop smoking) then took some of the best i could find and rolled it into a fat joint and smoked it all myself. (this happened 2 days ago)

it was the highest i have been off cannabis alone in a long long time (if not ever), to where i almost felt it was too much, and that is the only time that has happened ever.

it truly was as terence said

the only down-side was that it made my clench my jaw in a manner similar to MDMA (but nowhere near as long lasting).

still, it was a very eye-opening experience, i had thought after 6 or so years of blazing i knew cannabis well, i was mistaken.

Marijuana for me is very psychedelic, even at low doses. I'm talking open eyed visuals and everything, even without meditation of any sort. It's not exactly LSD or Psilocybe Mushrooms, but it's a lot closer than you would think.

Something I seem to get every time is hallucinations that happen in frames in between the frames were I see reality. This means that I can have very many different short hallucination frames in just a few seconds. If I close my eyes and don't focus my mind, it's like somebody is rapidly flipping through a book of psychedelic pictures. If I want though, I can give the hallucinations more structure. Music also gives them more structure.

I smoke it about every week or two.

Honestly, my doses are quite small. A gram can last me 5 months.

My girlfriend also experiences psychedelic effects from similar doses, but I haven't found many others.

I am happy to see that people use it this way...terence is a huge influence, couldn't have said it better with such simple words.

And yes, music does give more structure, but in my case it totally changes the trip according to the song(I avoid vocals altogether, only instrumentals)

I have been smoking for just over ten years now, and for me it has only gotten stronger. I used to smoke up to 7 grams a day and didn't really get much in the way of psychedelic effects just the normal stuff most people seem to get. But as I started to use other psychedelic drugs weed started to get stronger especially when i used it with high doses of lsd and mushrooms. Over the last two years weed has been a totally different beast for me if I smoke every day it's not too heavy but if as i am at the moment i only smoke occasionally (say once a week) i get very psychedelic effects sometimes even full blown eight hour trips comparable to 500ug lsd. I guess other psychedelics have shown me the true potential of cannabis and now i know it I try to avoid abusing it any more. I do miss being able to smoke with friends and such but I really do get way more from it now than ever before.

ken5ie, I think it's the way one smokes that affects the intensity of the trip, just like salvia and dmt, the longer you hold it(with slow release) the more you get from it...

I stopped smoking with friends because I lose my focus, I get distracted...and as I found out the majority have no idea how to take a lung-full, they smoke it like they smoke cigars.

anyway, the strongest trip I ever had was after smoking with a friend from malaysia, he had it sent to him from home and boy oh boy I was blown away...it was good because we were by ourselves and we both like to "trip hard" so it was quiet and dark, just perfect...the trip reached a peak where I swear to god I though I could hear him think, I would open my eyes just a little bit looking at him and I could hear him think...strange.

But for me the most interesting are these enhanced meditation sessions that I do a few times a year. It's just strange because I see the same---I don't even know what to call it, this landscape/planet I have really no idea what it is but it is the same place every time...like you would take a fast hang glider trip a couple of times a year in thailand or alaska.

Aside the meditation/trip moments I rarely smoke, if ever, but if I do I let it do the work and I just observe, then it just gets weird(in the most beautiful way)

and as I said, for me it's always a good quality joint made for the 3 deep takes that I do, so I guess that's a relatively small dose...in case someone is with me I still take my 3 hits and leave the rest to them to finish

The effects you describe aren't that unusual- but your style of usage is very rare. Most folks either smoke weed daily, or don't at all. I am impressed by your discipline.

After 30 years of habitual smoking you'd think I would be immune, but that's not the case. I'm a steady user- two to three bowls a day of the good stuff. But occasionally I'll end up having more than usual and the psychedelic effects start to kick in. Just last night I finished a really fine bowl at two am and sat in an easy chair to rest my eyes after doing hours of finicky photoshop work... And had a visual field full of faint spinning mandalas peppered with bright crystalline flashes, like fireflies. In other cases I'll be imagining a 3D object in space, trying to build it in my mind, and I'll get a much clearer CEV of the object than I normally will get.

One time I was briefly dry (horrors!) and smoked a small bowl of resin. Apart from the sore lungs, I also had the top of my head ripped away by a vision of the universe so huge and compelling I nearly went blind for a moment there.

Yes, THC is a psychedelic.

When I recognized marijuana's psychedelic potential I used to use it the same way I used low doses of mushrooms.

At night, with all the lights off in my room, accompanied by music. I would lay in bed and smoke bowl after bowl after bowl of very good marijuana and just lay there and let all of my senses mesh and unify. Quite lovely experiences!
“The most compelling insight of that day was that this awesome recall had been brought about by a fraction of a gram of a white solid, but that in no way whatsoever could it be argued that these memories had been contained within the white solid. Everything I had recognized came from the depths of my memory and my psyche. I understood that our entire universe is contained in the mind and the spirit. We may choose not to find access to it, we may even deny its existence, but it is indeed there inside us, and there are chemicals that can catalyze its availability.”

I virtually stopped using cannabis altogether a few years ago, but I do consider it a powerful psychedelic. It's certainly not something that should be smoked recreationally and I believe it's a travesty that it's so often used in this way. I have virtually no tolerance anymore, and on the rare occasion that I do use marijuana, it is a powerful experience--and that's exactly how it should be.

IMO/E cannabis, especially the turbocharged hydroponically grown breeds are properly psychedelic and the best way to access these effects is, generally speaking, to smoke after a period of abstinence which allows the tolerance to be reduced. And this seems more important in those who smoke daily, even if the usual daily amount consumed is not large.A week or 2 away from it is sufficient to really do the business.Although the effects are distinct from say psilocybin/LSD/mescaline, the experience can be on a par in terms of visuals and mental derangement to an okay-sized dose of the classic compounds.

For those disinclined to stop smoking for this period, oral ingestion of a sufficient quantity will get you there. But, IME, this does give diminishing returns in terms of the effects of smoked cannabis for several subsequent days.

There also does seem to be a variation in susceptibility between different individuals to the heavy effects when the same dosage is taken.Ive seen people seriously cabbaged on 1.75g resin taken orally whilst others get a more manageable dose-response.

Cannabis is powerful stuff if used infrequently and at a sufficient dose, and this applies, IMO, to both the smoked and oral routes, but the oral route does allow the bounds to be pushed way beyond where smoking can take you.Finding the optimum oral dose is an individual thing and is affected by ones recent pattern of use.

Like a man stabbing himself with one hand while the other hand tries to stop the blade. Like an explosion that destroys the detonator. I am paranoid of my brain. It makes me unsettled and ill at ease. Makes me chase my tail, freezes my eyes and shuts me down. Watches me. Eats my head. It destroys me.

I find cannabis to be very psychedelic. It can be a frightening psychedelic. I quit for 20+ years because of extreme sensitivity and negative reactions to it. I started again a couple of years ago. Now that I'm older, I seem to tolerate it better. I do use small amounts though. A quarter can last me 6 months. I have a very low tolerance and rarely do large doses. When I do, I find it to be visionary.
I have a friend who I make my golden/green dragon for. It's half pre vaporized and half fresh high end bud. A bit more than a quarter oz. ends up in about an ounce of tincture. He claims that with a couple droppers after a tolerance break he has achieved a state something like a breakthrough. I've been trying to get him to write a report and post it on here.
So no. It's not just you. Cannabis is psychedelic.

thank you guys for the feedback...feel free to share more intense experiences with cannabis...

I remember a year or so ago I had the worst feeling, horror like trip. I was at a friend's house and we were playing cards. After that we watched a movie and ordered some pizza...all of a sudden he took out his small aluminium case and handed me some really fine buds...took my grinder(have it always with me on my keys---really small one, but really effective) and made a healthy joint...pulled 3 times as usual...nothing much happened. After 10 minutes I went back home through the forest and the open sky...that's when I noticed that the effects are starting to kick in. I thought how beautiful. I was in for the surprise of my life...

When I got home I enterd the bathroom took my contacts out and sat on the toilet because I was kind of tired. That's when I noticed that something was not right. Every time I closed my eyes I would slip in this paranoid state with some nasty looking visuals and I had to fight nausea really bad. I kept telling myself to go with it as I knew it is going to be a bad trip knowing from salvia that you can't stop it anyway so just try to relax as much as possible and try to observe without fighting. I stood up and went to my room where I sat on my bed. The moment I went on my back and closed my eyes I started spiraling down this scary landscape with a feeling of freefall...I felt like I was going to puke any moment. I was fighting hard not to, but I couldn't open my eyes...so I forced myself to turn sideways so the effects wouldn't be so intense...I was literally afraid to close my eyes...I didn't sleep at all that night because every time I closed my eyes these flashes of bad images came into my mind and that freefall spiraling feeling took over me which caused me to be nauseous.

Did anyone here have something similar?

also, I have never taken it orally. Is it longer lasting? more intense as smoked? what seems to be the average?...which dose sould be taken orally?(in general---although I know that it depends highly on the person who takes, nevertheless I would like to see what your typical doses are so I can see what's what)
