I've read the raw cocoa has so many nutrients and natural neurotransmitters like dopamine & seritonin & phenylethylamine & also it is a mild Maoi I wonder how this would synergize with any psychedelics if it would give it a nice boost or something. Does anyone have any experience with this?

i am not familiar with the chemical constituents of the cacao, so this is intriguing news to me..
i wonder if the roasting potentiates or diminishes the effects.. also if a successful extraction could be preformed, and if so how? (lets hope one of the chemically literate will chime in Pleased)

I would imagine roasting would diminish the effects. Just like with our food it kills the naturally occuring enzymes, which help with digestion, by cooking and probably most of the nutrients. It's sound pretty amazing, i bet it would go well with dmt or mushrooms since its a mild maoi.

It also raises the blood pressure somewhat so I don't know how it would react with RIMAs.

Yeah cacao can be psychedelic in its own way at real high doses. You gotta be careful though mixing it with oral harmalas, as it can get very uncomfortable

But for me a big dose of cacao followed by a long changa session is very very nice

I'm actually drinking some in a smoothie as I type :]

cooked veggies are just as nutritious

but that still shouldn't have much affect on the actives (consider for instance, how brewing aya has little to no affect on the active compounds).
though it is still possible, this particular example you pointed out is earelephant.
also it does seem like an awful lot of traditional preparations incorporate heat at some point...

hmm.. this thread makes me want to cook some mole with lots of fresh cacao beans Drool

UC, what do you consider a high dose?

There's no need to cook or extract cacao IMO. Just powder enough beans and guzzle it down in a smoothie if you want better absorption

Idk it depends on the quality of it and other factors. I usually just use a handful of beans and several spoonfulls of powdered beans, but I seem to be fairly resistant to the stuff. That said, one of the Mayan, or maybe it was an Aztec king used to drink like 20x that much.. Everyday 0_0

the roasted(and powdered with oils removed) cacao for me is actaully stronger in some ways but I dont like it..it is more edgy and stimulating I find and less phen like than the raw cacao..I dunno, both are active but when raw it seems to have more entheogen potential than when cooked..when cooked I always felt speedy and sketchy when I took larger ammounts. Alone raw cacao is like a heart opener..sort of like a light dose of mescaline without the visions.

I have mixed it with san pedro and ayahuasca. With San pedro they go together very well and synergize..with ayahuasca I become way too overstimulated. A large dose of cacao about 45 minutes before changa was like something else..it was like adding a phen quality to the DMT..the DMT brought out more psychedelic phen like effects in the cacao and the trip lasted much longer..but was more like an oral psychedelic for about 30 minutes and entirely managable. After the main peak that lasted 4 minutes maybe I went and walked around the city tripping nicely.

Yea it definitely seemed to make changa a much longer experience and deeper. I often take melatonin with the cacao beforehand to and that's subtle but definitely potentiates it all

I didn't know the powdered stuff was roasted...I found he store bought powder to be pretty weak so I just put beans in a coffee grinder now anyway

Great stuff, I find it very nice and euphoric on its own. Hershey's and similar chocolate companies over-roast the beans, destroying the goodies (no source, just experience). I had some strange "synchronicities" a couple of years ago involving several large handfuls of the cocoa nibs from Navitas Naturals (I believe they come from Peru). Apparently certain primitive tribes (who still believe in the spirit world) consider the cacao "god" (male plant "spirit"Pleased and San Pedro "god" (also widely held to be a male) to be closely allied plant "spirits", who are quite eager to help allied humans fulfill their planetary missions. But that's the talk of crazy folk...

the salted/oily nibs are much tastier, but i learned to love the taste of the raw ones. Its also great in a banana smoothie and stuff like that..the nibs even go good in guacamole

right now i just have tons of beans and powder i made myself though. A friend had a box of cacao beans i could fit my entire body in so he lent me a bit Smile

MMM the banana smoothie sounds pretty good right now I've been up like 30 hours the cocoa nibs are kickin' in just waitin on my san pedro cactus now. I swear i almost threw up chewing a whole mouthful of nibs gahhh and it takes a lot to make me want to yack. So you've pretty much just gotten used to em' eh?

Dagnabbit! I'm gonna buy a 5lb box and like 10lbs of hemp seeds and a water filter and sum other shiznit to get prepared for the economic collapse. I think the solar flare that N-a.s-a is talking about is gonna happen and stuff gonna go haywire without electricity, Wall Street will go to sh*t (Remember if your not for wallstreet your a terrorist) (sarcasm), Banks and all online shopping and information and satellites will be lost, and i just think it's for the best and then we might have our revolution for absolute freedom without the media controlling the situation. And we'll all merge into a higher conciousness that we truly are without the technological distractions know what i mean? It's gotta be God's or the Oneness' plan to eliminate the technology of the evil minded world "rulers" with a solar flare and put a stop to it. I mean you should check out these f'n robots that they've came out with look into asimo made by honda if you get a chance. It is my firm conviction that all the technollogy that we've seen release has been produced many many years ago to decieve us an occupy our minds so that the technology that they've been working on in top secret for many many many many many many years can advance behind the scenes in the secrecy and decieve us like changing the weather with the Haaarp entennas and hologram ufo sighting being all over the news. Do i make any sense? lol

Just had a nice nap after maybe a 1/2 cup of nibs and the the dream enhancement i suspect is from the maoi in the nibs was fantastic. I slept for one hour and fell like i got a few hours in. Refreshing...Smile
