Just got 200g of the stuff. Thought i would write down my experience with it. I have had it for 2 days now, the first batch was maybe 2 to 3 grams worth and so i OD'ed a bit , quite an interesting caffiene like high , with a bit of uncomfortable sweating. Not recommended .

Have reduced it to a good half teaspoon and mix that up into a foam and chow that. I not only have not had any lucid dreams but i havnt been dreaming at all. I am not sure if this has to do with the large amount that i took but either way nothing has happened in the dream sphere so far.

will post my updates tomorrow. Apparenttly this only starts working on the 3rd day so to night it should work hopefuly.

will let you know

Interesting. I personally never got any effects from S. capensis no matter how much I ate. I took whopping doses...

S. Kirkii on the other hand, gives me quite intense and vivid dreams--some of them even psychic (I dreamt that a friend of mine's sister was trying to take over her life--which turns out is true, and I didn't even know she had a sister at that point). I use a heaping teaspoon of kirkii and for some reason i let it soak in milk for hours before consuming it.. maybe just due to superstition. I've always taken it at night although I've read you are supposed to take it during the day (each day).

Ok so i have been taking it for four days now and so far nothing... this is the break down.

everyday +- 250mg in water made till foaming and chowed the foam. the first 3 nights i did not even dream at all and last night i did dream but it was a normal type dream with the same bad recall. I can hardly remember any of it even now a few hours later.
I am addicted to caffeine and had a cup after each intake in the mornings , I am not sure if this effects it or not but either way this has not been successful. I also smoke ciggs and wonder if these also effects it but ...

I am thinking of maybe later going on some sort of fast of everything and see if it makes any difference but i have kinda lost interest. Last night i actually could not sleep properly at all. I kept falling asleep and then waking up i only really got to bed at 2:30 and now i feel like crap. I also experienced pressure on the back of my eyes, not painful but weird non the less.

I have had far better results by waking up -+ 4hours before i am suppose to wake up , stay awake for about 10mins and then go to sleep. recall is far better and way more lucid. I have also at times when doing this had what sees to be an out of body experience. I think its more of a lucid dream but it feels awesome. I think i will probably investigate this method further, i also find that reading before i go to bed seems to help a heck of a lot. I rarely do not dream after i have been reading for about 1-2 hours before i fall asleep.

I feel as though you may be approaching this matter in a way that is hindering your potential for benefit. I do not have direct experience with Silene capensis but maintain a firm belief that, like all plants, it should be approached as an entity with which you wish to cultivate a relationship. Of course, the science of my idea is up for dispute, but the fact that you have already "kinda lost interest" after just a few days indicates to me that you hold the expectation that the plant should willingly and immediately hand over the goods, or else it is of no use to you. This could form the basis for a critique of Modernity in which we expect instantaneous results with very little input on our behalf, except, of course, acquisition via capital, but that's a bigger topic that I don't want to explore further right now.

My advice would be to first work towards increasing your dream recall ability. Continue exploring your practice of waking up during the night and be sure to write down anything you can remember from your dreams in a dream journal (Dream Catcher is a wonderful website where you can maintain your journal and communicate with other dreamers). You'll be amazed at how quickly you are able to expand your recall, although there will be periods of time where maintaining discipline will be difficult. Once you have cultivated a greater awareness of your dream life, you might be better situated to observe the effects of Silene capensis and other oneirogens while you get to know them through interaction. Best of luck to you in your endeavours and be sure to stick with it! Smile

Hm, well as you seem to have acquired quite a large amount of the plant I'd say just continue taking it regularly for some time and see what happens. Maybe work on the dosage to find your sweet spot? Try taking in the morning instead of at night, or a larger dose in the morning and a smaller one at night... I mean these are just things that pop into my head if I were having trouble with it!
However, my experience with S. capensis has been overwhelmingly positive. It gave me very vivid, colorful and serene dreams... they were more dream-sequences, with no clear "story", more just a montage of very richly colored scenes which is in contrast to my usual dreams being in more flat lighting and flat color tones. The most memorable part of a capensis-induced dreaming was a very sunny, warm walkway with a terraced wall upon which were thick beautiful Purple Morning Glories. I could feel the warmth on my skin, not usual for me, and the sight of the flowers set something off in my head, it felt very similar to breaking through on DMT with no visuals whatsoever... it was just a very odd "blooming" sensation in my brain. I think I woke up shortly thereafter...

I'm just saying, you have a large amount, so just keep experimenting! Or, maybe it's not the one for you? I have some Kirkii waiting for me in Texas, and am very interested in seeing where it takes me!

EDIT: I just remembered that they were deep blue, with the "star"... Ipomoea tricolor

You are right xantho. I think i do need to approach it differently

I think for a few days i am just going to take it in the morning and evenings as a tea and then later start the foaming process again and then combine that with the wake up method and see how it goes.

Will post my results.

So i decided i am going to try out a few alternate ways in which to prepare the capensis. Over the last week i have left scrapings of the root in a jar and let it be. This makes the shavings soggy and creates a small "epidemis" type structure. I removed that from the water and added it to a tea, it must have been about 200 , 250 mg about an hour before i went to bed.

I was also reading a really good book " the thunderbolt kid" by bill bryson so i went to sleep right on the verge, literally seconds after i turned off the light ( all the book readers know what i am talking about here ) I had also set my alarm to 4am to wake up .

So at 4 i wake up and i needed to piss anyway but i stayed awake for about 10 minutes, went to the kitchen to get something to drink and allowed myself to gain a bit a wake-fullness ( not sure if that is actually a word ) and then went back to bed. so i am lying in my bed thinking well this is the best time to try and induce a lucid dream and from what i can remember as a lightie i would induce it with the idea of astral projection , which i went on to do. This did not take much effort at all.

I am not sure how long it was after i went back to sleep but i remember starting to leave my body very easily but not how you would think this would occur , it was more of a feeling then a visual thing , and i could tell i was connected some how. It is such an intense feeling i am really suprised this alone does not wake someone up. So anyway i leave my body and it seemed really easy .. really easy , but there was a fear ( i know this probably sounds wierd ) the fear was not of anything it was just there.

This is all seriously wierd actually. Like i know i did it as a child to the same extend where there is this fear associated ( and i watched insidious .. bloodly hell, that doesnt help ) I dont think it is actual astral projection like you read about , i think it is a very lucid dream where projecting yourself outside of your body is like the instigator to the ability of lucid dreaming.

Here is the thing though lately i have been having semi-lucid dreams , i am not in full control of the dream but there are many aspects where i definetly choose what i want to do. I was dreaming the other day that i was in the computer racing game and we had to choose a car but i was like, no man i want a bike, and i remember looking around at the cars and thinking like you would in waking life ... i wanted a bike and that was that. there was a bike but it had not keys to start it ><

there where a few other dreams where there is a very distinct point where i feel like i am in full control of the choice i make to the direction of the dream ,which as far as i am aware is lucid dreaming .. maybe a lesser form but lucid none the less.

This other experience where i project my body is nothing like that .. its way more intense

... check this out if you are interested in this type of thing ..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xeBFjRnsAqg

which makes me wonder if this is lucid dreaming or OBE

I am not sure if the capensis is helping this .. i think so , i would not say that it is like what others have said (and maybe it effects me differently) like dreaming whole life times and becoming very emotive during the dream, but i think it is helping me concentrate on what i want to a achieve ( although i am not sure what that is ). I really think waking up at 4am is the key , finding your mind in that delta state in a waking state and then slowly drifting away again .. i think you have more access to that part of your mind in those times. and of course reading stimulates neuron growth and the creative part of your brain which is very active during dreaming + i really enjoy reading when i find a good book .

anyways ... i think next i am going to try some chemistry out on this root and get the root into a pure liquid form and then inhale the gas from that .. see what happens.

Although nicotine (worn as a patch) is known to enhance dreaming since it acts as an acetylcholine agonist, long term use causes desensitization of acetylcholine receptors which are crucial for dreaming, and the carbon monoxide in cigarette smoke reduces oxygen in the brain which can reduce cognitive function/memory (dream recall).

Also, cigs are highly addictive. More addictions means more distraction and less energy for dream exploration.

Kinda shooting yourself in the foot, don't you think?

It would be wise to quit smoking if you're doing dream-work and consciousness exploration.

geez i wish i could. I suffer from bipolar and its pretty serious. On the various occasions i have been to my doctor to try sort my brain out he always suggests medication which is extremely expensive of which i am not in a position to afford, he actually suggested that i start smoking .. weird right a doctor suggesting smoking , but he seemed really sincere . I kinda enjoy the delusional state bi polar produces but the lows are super low .. like really super low and cigarettes do help. Obviously the implications further down the road will be bad but i am not even sure i will make it if i dont .. this might all just be in my head but its real enough

anyways .. so i have been taking a lot less capensis .. about 200mg and only use a bit of foam not really to the point of feeling blotted and have been doing this for 4 days now. and then along with this i have been reading a bit in the evenings and doing the whole wake up and then go back to sleep at 4am. last night i have a nice lucid dream before i woke up which was a suprise .. very clear lucid dream. Went through the whole "This cant be happening i must be in a dream " and then had a huge argument with myself about how this is a dream. It seemed really real .. like this waking life real. Very excited about my progress with this.

will carry on with the progress of small amounts and see what happens.. will post.

so this stuff really works, my goodness. I wonder why there is not more information on this plant. I am not sure there is any major side effects but this seems like a very powerful aid to the other half of life that we seem to just pass by. Even now i can still recall pretty clearly dreams i had 3 nights ago, and last nights dreams was not lucid but really intense non the less.

I have never done DMT, although i have tried a few other drugs and to quite honest this is a lot better then anything i have taken. No hangover or other . I guess the down side is waking up to this very mechanical reality .

Could you please elaborate on this statement?

By mechanical i mean the restrictions of this world , gravity , money , suffering , global warming , time etc. The dream world is extremely free and peaceful. I think that is why people like movies and series because it emulates the dream experience to a certain degree in that there is no progressive time process , one minute the characters are talking in a bar the next they are at home having dinner and like in many movies the normal laws of reality are disregarded.

also there is no greed, just a flowing of conciousness which i guess if one chooses, one can really get involved in.

You could if you focused your intent on quitting and saved up enough emotional energy. It's not as hard as it seems. It's mostly a mental addiction, but you need mental energy and a strong desire to quit.

That's really sad that he would actually recommend you start smoking. I would find a new doctor. He should also be reported.

Sorry to go off topic, but I was shocked when I read your post.

yeah .. maybe its not the best prevention.

I had been doing some research and found that having dreams some what reduces psychosis, this been a dream inducer should help with that. I am not to sure how true this statement is but having stopped using capensis for a while i have stopped dreaming ( ok last night i dreamed a bit but the lucidity and recall was bad ) and the psychosis that i apparently do suffer from is returning as it should. Although i am not to sure that is stopped in the first place.

I also learnt that when people stop smoking they , for a few weeks, have very lucid dreams. So i will stop smoking with my next batch experiment and see how this goes .

Still cannot believe the lack of information on this plant, it seems so powerful. Would be nice to know if there are any side effects.

o/ Gerdi,
So, a doctor telling you to start smoking does sound odd. I know that due to the level off stressors and issues I have currently in my life I have had more than one doctor telling me that quitting smoking would be detrimental to me. Boy my wife wanted to take them out back and beat them senseless.
Enter the e-cig. I smoked for almost 20 years, starting in my pre-teens. I smoked like it was necessary, often and a lot. I have tried patches, gum, meds, cold turkey... everything.
The E-cig is the only thing that ever worked for me... but it's a little tricky due to some issues with e-cigs. First and most problematic issue is battery life. Nothing hurts more than having your e-cig/s run out of juice. You just go out and buy a pack of smokes and that's that. So I suggest getting one that has changeable lithium ion batteries, mine uses two RCR123A's that last 12-16 hrs. Secondly is the cost. If you don't purchase your own 'juice' and refill cartridges then the cost of buying pre-filled cartridges makes it ridiculous. Filling your own is all too easy, nicer, and super cheap ($5/week for me and I vape A LOT). I started at 24mg/ml nic solution. This is a good area if you smoke a pack or more of "reds" a day. It seems that I went down a step in nic fluid strength weekly, now I vape 5mg or 0mg fluid. That's the best part. You don't have to give up "smoking" per se, you just give up cigarettes and chemicals. I enjoy the action of it, always have always will. It centers you, gets you to take deep breaths, normally removes you from others, or large groups for a quiet pause. So I don't think I will ever stop vaping. I just don't get nicotine or burned chemicals by the ton anymore. I don't stink, I can do it in my office and you'd never kno. I am a great supporter of the Vape. It's the only way I could have quit.
BTW if anyone ever wants suggestions, websites, etc on Vaping, pls feel free to PM me.

Anybody tried infusing a few grams SC in IPA and then dissolving spice & alkaloids in the SC infused alcohol ? I was thinking of making some electric sheep, 0.9 spice : 0.9 (0.45 calea + 0.45 blue lotus ) : 0.3 Alkaloids ? Since both calea and SC are dream herbs i was thinking of infusing SC in alcohol since smoking it seems to be harsh.

In the lingering moments before you die your body releases DMT‬. The same drug that makes you dream. The same drug found in every living animal. It's not an evolutionary trick to make you survive. Your body is choosing to release this drug now because it believes your fate is too grim for you to comprehend. So you dream. You dream that everything will be fine. You dream that nothing happened at all. It's in this moment that your body sits across from you. It tells you 'looks like we're not gonna make it this time.' You sit around a fire and recollect the past before soon parting ways back to the atomic ether. Your body does this because it loves you. You have never met anyone like your body. Your body has been with you everyday, good and bad. It's even kept a journal of your life carved in scars. Your eyelashes always wiped the tears from your eyes.
