Just been spending a fair amount of time reading here and on ayahuasca.com all about different kinds of caapi vine and admixtures and I'm searching for a good brew for a first time drinker.
I plan to brew each separately and find what works but i want to just get a few ingredients and do larger brews in as few go's as possible and just keep them in the fridge.

Looking for a gentle healing experience. A polite introduction basically. I know to start with vine only but I'm very interested in shedding some "light" on the process as well. My first conclusion was go traditional and just caapi and chacruna or chaliponga but now I'm thinking I'm more open to whatever admixture seems to work, though preferably natural.

So yeah, any suggestions on type of vine, admixture, and combos for beginning a relationship with aya would be greatly appreciatedWink

Hey there I would really recommend using something called a "Muslin Bag" To filter out your caapi with....I wish I would have known about these things years ago...

It leaves the most fine particulates in...something you want with caapi...but the final solution never has sediment..

These things help make really nice caapi extract.

muslinbag.com

Also I like K.T botanicals selection of caapi

I ordered some Mckenna black caapi extract from them and I love it. I loved it so much I asked how they made it...and they told me about the muslin bag.
And why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not percieve the plank in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, "brother let me remove the speck from your eye", when you yourself do not see the plank that is in your own eye?-Yeshua ben Yoseph

Was that the liquid extract that has 500g vine/100ml? If so i can attest to it being a very potent extract as well. I bought some of it last year and was very satisfied with the quality of that extract. Too bad it molded on me, word of advice, keep it refrigerated if you have some.

In a society in which nearly everybody is dominated by somebody else's mind or by a disembodied mind, it becomes increasingly difficult to learn the truth about the activities of governments and corporations, about the quality or value of products, or about the health of one's own place and economy.
In such a society, also, our private economies will depend less upon the private ownership of real, usable property, and more upon property that is institutional and abstract, beyond individual control, such as money, insurance policies, certificates of deposit, stocks, etc. And as our private economies become more abstract, the mutual, free helps and pleasures of family and community life will be supplanted by a kind of displaced citizenship and by commerce with impersonal and self-interested suppliers...
The great enemy of freedom is the alignment of political power with wealth. This alignment destroys the commonwealth - that is, the natural wealth of localities and the local economies of household, neighborhood, and community - and so destroys democracy, of which the commonwealth is the foundation and practical means.” - Wendell Berry

Would that be placing the ingredients in the bag and then boiling them to keep the chunks out, or pouring your brew through the bag?

I'll check that stuff out.Smile I'm thinking financially it will be reasonable to just get a fair amount of one vine and then maybe a couple admx's. Thanks guys!

I should really open this to any brew suggestions I may want to info from your experiences like the muslin bagWink

as a general rule, yellow is caapi, muricata is typically called either black, red, or trueno (thunder).

When I had started brewing Aya I read through this thread by Minx (which is linked below) due to her extensive experience with this, and I was heavilyyy rewarded in my endeavors. Smile

I had started with yellow shredded vine and used the non traditional "mimosa" for the light. Most people say to start with 50g caapi per person, but I had wanted to overshoot a little and used 65-70g caapi per person.

And as far as the mimosa went..I kinda overshot and used 5.4g a person...which was a verrrrry intense experience. If I could have went back and did it all over again I would have only used 3g or so.

As far as brewing times. I've always felt that "energy in; energy out"..meaning...the more work/time you put into this step...the more you will be rewarded. I brewed the caapi and mimosa in separate pots. White distilled vinegar was used..a teaspoon or so per 3 hour cook for each pot. I did a 3x3 cook for each pot....for a total of 9 hours for each pot but both were brewed side by side. All 3 cooks for the caapi and mimosa were combined in 2 separate jars, allowed to settle over night in the fridge to then be decanted in the morning through an old t shirt. (due to various stove temps...and the various water level changes throughout the cooking...if the water levels start to get low or BELOW the plant material...ADD more water to always keep the water level ABOVE the plant material)

Both the caapi combined cooks and mimosa combined cooks were put in 2 separate pots once again and reduced down to roughly a shots worth. (NOTE-as the liquid starts to reduce to a very low level...turn the heat downn to low so nothing is burnt and all your work isnt destroyed)

And finally serve in two separate shots glasses and enjoyyyyy <3.

I had dosed the mimosa shot roughly 25-30 minutes after initially taking the caapi shot.

Thanks I'd read over this before but forgot how much info's in it. Mmk so I've noticed yellow caapi gets recommended a lot, Looks like Minxx suggest it for beginners so I'm thinking I'll start with that.

so any aya labeled black red or trueno is muricata? Or thats just how it's described?

Keep it simple. It's as high tech as boiling stuff. Buy from reputable vendors and aim higher than desired effects. Chacruna fresh is amazing and consistent, dry is often a crap shoot. Mimosa or mhrb will give you more consistency or if you already have dmt freebase you can dose very accurately with that in lemon juice.
My preferred at home aya, 100g Caapi, 100mg dmt. The vine is the medicine, as long as its got caapi Its Aya.

Careful not to over think vine colors. Red, white, yellow, rainbow whatever. I found by focusing on too many details I was in a way trying to control and make predictable the effects instead of just agreeing to be open to what I receive. Im not saying that one should dose fool heartily but worrying too much about vine color for me was a byproduct for not wanting to release control to the medicine.

I completely agree with this statement. In fact, age of the vine (determined by size) and freshness seemed to influence things much more than the purported color.

well that is true as long as you can be sure your ayahuasca is b.caapi.
we don't even know about the actives in tetrapterys or alicia.. could be something other than MAOI-B for all we know...

but b.caapi seems to be the same regardless of marketed color.

Thank you Olympus, I'm probably over thinking this for sure. I'll be sure to be extra aware of keeping myself open and letting aya take the wheel of the experience. I figure you meant mg's but I'd probably start with less Dmt! I have probably like 300 grams of mhrb from a dmt extraction I did. Was thinking of using that but maybe I'll try like 65g caapi 65mg freebase.
