I am currently doing a trial of the melatonin agonist Aglomelatine ( Valdoxan by Servier), it also reputedly has 5ht2c antagonist properties as well. It's touted as an atypical antidepressant but I'm using it to try and get some normality in my circadian rythm which has been messed up these last few months, not sure why ,(DMT?)
My inquiry to medicaly orientated members is: Might there be a counterindication issue with having a DMT session while using this drug? Melatonin being so structuraly similar to the "other" tryptamines and being produced in the Pineal has me thinking that there could be an issue relating to intensity of the overall experience. I'm curious to try, but am concious of what curiosity did to the cat!
Anyhow, just thought I'd ask on the off chance someone has already done it, before I do my own assay.
Cheers

I am not medically trained, that being said, I wouldn't take the agonist as it isn't something you would find in Nature. If your circadian rhythms are off, I would suggest the following.
1. Water 2. Barefoot walking through forest and/or beaches 3. Swimming in fresh and/or salt water 4. Full body sunlight exposure 5. Going to sleep before midnight and sleeping in COMPLETE darkness. 6. Eat healthy foods especially fruits, vegetables, fish and/or nuts and seeds. 7. Whatever music you enjoy to relax as well as stimulate your nervous system. 8. Conscious deep breathing 9. Exercise 10.Gardening/Interaction with plant life
The Sunlight, Barefoot walking, Swimming, and getting an uninterrupted full nights sleep in complete darkeness is probably 10x more effective to stabilize your melatonin/seratonin/etc. levels, than this synthetic product which only has a small scope of effect. Plus its free and way more stimulating to your entire system. Cannabis also has an uncanny ability to regulate your bodily systems back into homeostasis, this would surely help with restoring your circadian rhythms IMHO. Nature always holds the keys. Let us know how your progress is going. Peace n Love

If you do decide to combine them for some reason, start low , 10-15mg.

That's all good advice Kronos, can't fault it. ( save for the Cannabis, which would plunge me into despair absolute) Guess I'm just exploring the compound for it's subjective effects, which aren't bad to be honest. Being a Liver toxic compound the experiment will be of a short duration I can assure you.
Yes Tele, the start low theme was definitely going through my mind too, this stuff has a faint whiff of the DMT afterglow about it, and there's good reason to be cautious.

i have a lot of experience with combining high doses of melatonin (20mg to 80mg) with ayahuasca and/or changa and i absolutely love the combination. But aglomelatine does more than just increase melatonin levels, so i can't really say anything about that. personally i'd take kronos advice, and also microdose harmalas every night. if all that that doesn't work then maybe try aglomelatine, but if you decide to use dmt on it i would start off with very very low amounts
<Ringworm>hehehe, it's all fun and games till someone loses an "I"

What made you decide to use this substance instead of melatonin itself? I think you can say that melatonin is relatively safe...besides being an endogenous substance, it´s been tested in human trials, in amounts of several hundreds of milligrams (it was thought to be a promising contraceptive but it didn´t work well enough).

To be honest, I've had a hell of lot of stress lately,(running my own company) despite micro-dosing with Salvia tincture( always was a reliable stress buster for me previously) Even a memoriable first time Ayahuasca trip gave me just 3-4 days respite. I had the aglo. in the cubboard for months untouched, then decided to give it a go. They work well and don't give the shitty sexual side effects of SSRI's.( and dreams are out of this world colourful and well scripted) But the hepatotoxity issue has me worried and I'm stopping them anyhows, so I will source out plain melatonin. Cheers

Kronos , your list of ten things is really excellent . It's an inspiring list of basic things that we all should consider just for basic well being . The only way of discovering the limits of the possible is to venture a little way past them into the impossible. Arthur C. Clarke http://vimeo.com/32001208

I've been on Valdoxan for three months, its the only sleeping pill I would ever recommend , I use it for insomnia not depression though, had my first dmt experience today, whow was it intense, profound and life changing, it was totally dissociative, I had no concept of who i was, where i was or or initially what was happening, there was just blackness and endless spiralling tunnels of geometric colours, deafeningly loud humming noise, then i heard spirit voices telling me to remember to breathe, i became worried that i would never return from this place even though i didn't know who i was at the time, then i started seeing Aztec like symbols moving in columns in intense colours that had a holographic effect and seated all around me were these strange beings who kept reassuring me that everything was alright and not to fear what was happening, i still didn't know who i was or what was happening but i was starting to sense that i was safe and began to take in the things that i was being shown, it was the most beautiful magical wondrous experience, so if anyone is curious as to whether you can do dmt whilst taking Valdoxan then i can say for me it was totally beautiful profound and spiritually informing
