Hello everybody! I'm italian boy who is interested in Ayahuasca and i've discovered this forum and i think it's amazing! Smile
I have read the Trip Abortion Thread in Health & Safety section and from what i've understood from previous posts the only thing we can try for decreasing (maybe) and calming is Valerian Root (other than benzodenziades, obviously); I usually take Mulungu Extract a sedative herb, and has anxiolytic and anticonvulsant properties and is similar to Kava-Kava. I have never tried to take these herbs while on trip and i want to know if there is a controindications mixing Mulungu with I-MAO (i think it can help with a bad trip but i can't be sure, with Valerian it seems there isn't any controindications...).
Other supplements/herb which i've tried and have anxiolitic properties are controindicates with I-MAO (L-Theanine/Glutamine, Vitamins B, Rauwolfia Serpentina, adaptogens like Ashawaganda and Ginseng...) so i don't know if is a good idea trying with these; (Magnesium can helps too and i don't thinks there is a problem with this)
I have read two italian Ayahuasca reports where they have aborted the trip eating a LOT of Fructose (don't know how and why it worked but is recommended as Trip Abortion in one italian's forum... Surprised )
Thanks and sorry for bad english!!! Sad

Hey there.....

My advise would be to be careful with your dosage and then you won't have to worry about "aborting" your trip....

If you don't take way too much there should be no problem....

Just start small to get a "feel" for the experience and work your way up

By the way Valerian smells bad and can make your skin smell like it if you ingest it in large amounts...

Also if you think any of those sedatives you mentioned might cause any constipation like side effects then I definitely would not take them with Ayahuasca...being constipated on Aya causes stomach cramps to the max.
And why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not percieve the plank in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, "brother let me remove the speck from your eye", when you yourself do not see the plank that is in your own eye?-Yeshua ben Yoseph

I have taken low dosages of melatonin after Ayahuasca experiences to help me fall asleep and it pretty much knocked me out like a sleeping pill.

Thanks for the info; I know lot of people are "against" something which can abort/decrease intensity of the experience because what we call "bad trip" is a part of the experience too and there's a reason for it; anyway, i think something which can help with anxiety and/or decrease the experience a bit can be useful sometimes; For example, two times i "woke up" in the middle of the experience with a lot of anxiety/fear (after the beginning was beatiful Smile ) and i went to drink some water. Maybe something natural and safe with water which can decrease anxiety can be helpful in these situations (something i can prepare before Smile ).

Blue Lotus x 20 extract before a trip. But really, if your embarking on a ayahuasca journey, you should see it through without crutches like sedatives. vaporised freebase does indeed induce pre-flight jitters in a lot of folks ( me included), but I've found out that sedatives are not really needed, or for that matter effective either.

From what I understand, Mulungu lowers blood pressure, which means that it is probably *not safe* to take with Ayahuasca, as high blood pressure medications are contraindicated with MAOI's...

Personally, I would *not* take mulungu during an Ayahuasca session, or within 24-48 hours before or after drinking Ayahuasca.

For more in depth advice, I would suggest posing your question at the Ayahuasca forum...
