Sure it is just a story. But i believe the morale of this story is, that one must understand how the smallest things work, before the big mysteries can be answered.
If i were to imagine the universe i wouldnt think of it like a 3 dimensional room, were you could go in one direction until you reached "the end", a wall or whatever. I would rather imagine it as donut- or wave-like, the same way superstrings are supposed to look, ultimately being the same thing - a simple wave of energy.
So my speculation/theory is that if one were to infinitely magnify an atom, he would end up looking at the same thing the universe/multiverse is made of.
Anyway, im far from an expert about this matter, but i didnt pull this entire thing out of my *** either. Its my personal conclusion after watching a few scientific lectures, which i highly reccomend to anyone interested in this subject: (i hope this isnt seen as advertisement, as its not meant to be)
