Hello fellow Nexians!

After an AMAZING sclerotia trip last week, I was once again compelled to go for a nice run after the peak effects. Wondeful!Big grin

Once again and like the experience that I'd had on acid before (thanks for suggesting it on the nexus chat that week last month, you know who you are Pleased), it was an amazing feeling. But in retrospect I'm wondering if stressing the body like that just after taking something is actually wise.

It will vary from substance to substance, of course.

To me shrooms don't appear to have stimulant properties at all (euphoric yes, some (most) times), while acid for instance very clearly does (I ran 3x my previous record once after an acid trip, didn't even feel tired).

I wouldn't even consider it after MDMA for instance. Similarly, going for a run after, say, coke, would probably be a very poor idea.

The question is - while going for that run after an amazing experience feels wonderful, is it putting too much stress on the body? It *feels* fine to me, but I can also tell that the physical effects are somewhat masked, especially with acid.

Naturally, going to the doc and asking if it's fine to go for a 15km run after acid isn't gonna fly, so I'm hoping that there's someone here with the knowledge to back up a solid answer?

Your personal experiences also welcomed.. do *you* also feel like going for a run outdoors after a session?

thats interesting you beat your record by 3x during the comedown! but in many ways not that surprising i guess..Out of all the psychedelics i feel like lsd is the most suitable for these sorts of activities

as long as you feel like you're being good to your body, and your not a physical wreck the next day, then i wouldn't worry about it

I haven't worked out much besides some intense yoga after/during psychedelics. But running through the wilderness on the comedown of some changa- or any psychedelic really- is just beyond words

Why would some random doctor know about the effects of LSD on fitness anyway??

It seems that psychedelics as workout boosters are gaining in popularity here on the nexus. I say use the acid before and leave the mushrooms for after, with the protein shake.

For what its worth, It is my understanding that some sort of sugars from your brain/body are used up/released from your initial metabolising of the LSD/Mushies. Many people do not eat or drink during their 'trip'.
My intuition tells me that it might be better to wait until your body is back to 'normal', with your electrolites, hydration and blood sugar levels back to where your pancreas etc. can cope with the stress of running such a distance.. The mind might be willing but, be kind to your body please. Buy a diabetic blood tester perhaps or borrow one to check.

Just your asking makes me think you are concerned for good reason.

Good luck though.Confused

I rather exercise during come up, it helps releasing the excess energy/tension/anxiety. It's great to do some warm up, stretching and then exercise, you go into the trip so fulfilled Smile

If youre eating good in general, not taking excessive drugs in excessive dosages, sleeping well, I cant see how the occasional trip with exercise during or after, can be damaging in any way. Just hydrate well and dont do excessive exercise you wouldnt do normally.

yea i'd rather exercise during the comeup as well, or before dosing. i feel so much more grounded and at home with myself afterwards that it really helps set up a nice psycho-physical launch pad, so to speak

LSD has shown me some really profound effects on stamina and focus. People have observed me running faster and having sex for longer without tiring/reaching climax.

I feel like shrooms would be better for something like yoga.

Wow, interesting thread. Personally I'd be too cautious to go out running on acid or shrooms, though I do enjoy a nice long walk on some psychedelics.

Just look at the use of lsd during warfare ingested by soldiers and the profound effects it had on their physical capabilities as well as mental. I agree with Growpen as far as exercising after the come down, since so much has been depleted during your trip.

LSD and physical activity can make for a very interesting combo... Sometimes you'll end up feeling a stronger than normal sensitivity to your physical body, which can allow you to perhaps push a little harder. At the same time, hydration is always key... And the real test is how you feel 24-48 hours later. If you're extra depleted and your kidneys hurt, don't repeat. If you're feeling beautifully cleansed and refreshed, as I have on a few occasions like this, then you're probably ok.

Your average random doctor will give you a random answer.

Sorry to bring back such an old post, but I had some insight that I'd like to add, and maybe some of you will find this topic worth reconsidering.

I am an ultra-distance runner and stay very physically active 7 days a week. At least once a week I go out on very long hikes or trail runs that are between 20-50 miles in one day.

I recently wanted to try going on one of these long runs while on LSD. I did a little bit of research on the topic, as my main concern was that since there is a bit of a stimulant effect from the acid that it might cause my heart to pound a bit too hard and give me some complications. That said, I still went through with the experiment and am back to report my findings.

I learned that the come up was absolutely NOT the time to trail run. I was able to hike at an elevated pace, but I had to really watch it. The LSD made me feel wobbly and a bit weird for that first two hours or so. That said, after I reached the peak and basically for the following 6 hours, I was able to run really really well! I did have a slight issue with temperature regulation in the peak. It was a bit hotter out than I had expected that afternoon, so I ended up sweating a bit more than I expected and I wasn't quite sure if I needed to slow down before I overheat. That temperature regulation thing was only an issue during the peak itself.

Later that day during the come down I felt the most profound performance enhancement. I was able to run considerably harder than I normally do for much longer. Each time I filled my lungs, I felt like I could fill them to 120% capacity. I felt so connected to every heart beat.

I ended up trail running about 27 miles that day with an elevation gain of about 7,500feet! It was an absolutely amazing experience. I have plans in place to aim for a 37 mile run in the coming month on those same trails. I plan to take 2 tabs, instead of the 1 tab that I took this last weekend.
All of my posts are entirely fictional. I am a writer, and as a means to research the life of a fictional character that I'm writing about, I post on the Nexus to get into character. In real life I have no interest or interaction with mind-altering substances.

Really interesting first hand experience! Thanks to share it.

This reminds me what I red in "Manifesting mind", a book published by MAPS, page 29 and
30. This chapter talks about "being in the zone"; "a mythical heightened state of neo-perfection in which athletes report very psychedelic effects such as time slowing down and extraordinary feats of instantaneous nonthinking coordination".
An anonymous high-altitude climber is quoted, saying that "climbing in the Himalayas on LSD was like cheating because it did such a good job of overcoming fatigue and altitude sickness".

This article talked mainly about the use of psycholytic dosages, not really full psychedelic dosages.

And, a little bit off topic (not that much in factWink ): Did your book project is on the path to realization ScientificMethod? I'm impatient to read it!
