Hey all,

I've boiled down 34" of SP and canned it in a 1 pint Mason jar. When it cooled it became a beautiful jelly atop a lot of sediment. The jar appears to be about half jelly / half sediment. What I'm wondering is if I should consume all of the sediment along with the jelly, or just stick to the jelly. Is there much value in the sediment, or is it just going to add to intestinal discomfort. See pic of my jar below. Any help is much appreciated!!

[EDIT] To clarify, this is the first time I've boiled down cactus until it became this jelly. Normally it is still a liquid and I don't have anywhere near this much sediment.

filtration is impossible in such a viscous state, decant as much as you can off. rehydrate lower sediment, let settle, and decant again. collect decantings and use, sediment is not desirable IMHO

pretty good advice there Mew

yes, there are likely alkaloids in your sediment layer that need to be washed out
