He definitely seems more like a science person than a people person, lol.

You're basing your opinion of the guy on what others told you from first-hand experience? I would very much like to know what these rigid and dogmatic ideas are. I've never seen anything like this in his interviews / talks / writing.

I find his new work to be..uhhh well just plain weird and uninteresting to be honest..too religious for me and he seems to pick and choose what he wants to link together.

Is his new work even out or are you talking about Inner Paths - which was the work of many authors?

Each character, mainstream or underground, contributes uniquely to our community. Rick Strasmann has went through an amazing hard work to get the DMT study going, and helped with the pharmacological/safety knowledge of DMT. He opened up a door that can keep evolving into psychedelics being more accepted in mainstream society. I thank him for his work.

Is he the best writter or talker ever and has the same conclusions or ideas I have about dmt? No, but does that diminish the value of what he did? Neither.. Is he a good person or dogmatic or whatever? Who knows, I certainly dont because I havent met him personally. Does he visit the Nexus? I have no clue but if he is really interested in DMT from a multidisciplinary perspective, he definitely would be missing out on a lot of completely novel interesting information and experiments if he didnt.

Im not getting into that here. If the person who has had contact with him wants to that is their choice.

alpha he's spoken in podcasts and stuff about his new book (souls of prophecy, or something like that. i forget the title) that 'psychedelisizes the bible'.. which should be finished soon i guess

and as i said i respect what he's done immensely, but i had some correspondence a while back that wasn't what i expected at all. Without getting to nitty gritty-he just seemed very rigid and dogmatic in his views in general..bluntly dismissing any other ideas in a very condescending manner (before even looking into them literally at all)..and then went on with to say a blanket statement that any theory is incorrect unless it takes into account "god". Now whatever that word means to him- i don't know for sure.. but he clearly wasn't friendly with any sort of jungian-esque dmt-cosmic-oneness 'its all god' kind of interpretation of the word many dmt users nowadays mean when throwing the word around..He just came off as very religious, dogmatic, and a bit grumpy

Often times people who get a slightly expanded view of things often mistake that for being the whole picture. Then they get comfy and set in they're ways. We see this all the time in both ourselves, on the nexus, and in the world in so many ways. Those who we hold in high esteem are not exempt from this, even though we often build them up in our minds as if they are

<Ringworm>hehehe, it's all fun and games till someone loses an "I"

I think you are incorrect. He answers most e-mails and I suggest you re-engage with a serious critique and post it here. I'd be interested to see your correspondence.

IMHO, of course....
Strassman is a respected scientist and in the public eye
so his public image not only is, but must be: professional, straight, polished, and unbiased.

However,
he went to Stanford...
so .....
OF COURSE he did (does).

Just sayin' .....

I think its rather irrelevant what his personality is. He has done a lot scientifically for anyone interested in DMT. Also, I dont know why everyone takes him so literally. As a scientist things that he says are just a hypothesis if they have not been proven. Beings that he's not dumb, if he says "DMT is made In the pineal gland!" he is not speaking that as fact but as theory.

I guarantee that if we met Einstein in person a lot of us wouldn't like him. Some of his personal ideas were kind of disturbing. Yet I admire his work as a scientist.

I forgot, we are all scientists studying DMTs effects on the human body and mind. It's pretty fun

..if he had said any on public record that he'd tried DMT, he would not have got the approval from the FDA for the study..this is how mainstream 'legit' research works..

i don't know if he browses here, but i know this site is known to many of the better known published entheogen writers/researchers..

I have also spoken with Rick. We spoke for quite a while about spirituality and DMT and he pushed back at the whole eastern perspective pretty hard. For those that read "Spirit Molecule" you will know that Rick was pushed away by the Buddhist community when he was trying to link psychedelics to spiritual states....now he sort of rejects Buddhism and is making a hush push back towards his Jewish roots.

Personally I think his ego is obviously involved. He should have ignored the Buddhist leaders and dugg into the buddhist texts about states of mind to look for parallels...they certainly exist. Anyway now he is diving into the Torah and Bible to do the same thing. I suppose it is unique and he has that going for him...and I'll certainly buy the book so he has that going as well!

Anyway Rick seems like a pretty nice guy. Don't know him well, but have spoken to him on a few occasions. Rigid is probably an accurate word.

Peace.
If your religion, faith, devotion, or self proclaimed spirituality is not directly leading to an increase in kindness, empathy, compassion and tolerance for others then you have been misled.

That's quite cool name for a book. I think one who hasn't tried DMT would not come up with something like that very easilyConfused Razz
