This is SWIM's first post!
So... What I was thinking if DMT is in everything, and we, as humans use it to dream, and to visit spiritual realms. We already know that plants have a higher percentage of DMT than humans. And if you believe that DMT holds our consciousness, then what if plants don't need brains, because they rely on DMT. That would bring the ethical reasoning. What is our right to steal other entities consiousness? I'm still going to use DMT, it's just something to think about.

EDIT: tony said that humans using DMT to dream is at most mere speculation. I remember hearing that somewhere. Oh, well, still discuss your ideas please!

who says a brain is necessary for consciousness?
or that DMT would even be a replacement for that?
DMT works almost as a neuro-transmitter in humans, iirc. so what neurons would their be for it work with in a plant?
maybe all plants' consciousness exist in hyperspace and all we witness is their physical "skeleton"?

it all seems like conjecture to me.... i think it will be a while yet before we have enough evidence to make solid theories as to the significance of DMT and its relation to life forms (though i may very well be wrong).

What SWIM thinks is that the brain is used to send/receive information. This makes sense to him because it sends and receives signals within "our" physical body. Why couldn't it be sending and receiving packets of information to our spirits (or whatever you want to call them)?
I do believe that all entities exist in a certain plane as spirits, but how would we be able to, lets say, feel that we are INSIDE our skeleton. My reasoning is we would need some sort of transmitter. My guess is that transmitter is the brain.

I won't pounce on your theory, but the "we use DMT to dream" part is unfounded. It's at best speculation. I do agree though that for all we know plants (and everything else) could have consciousness, I guess our justification for taking it is that we need to in order to live. I would like to think that when I eat a fresh cabbage I am not depriving anything of it's consciousness, but even if I was I would still do it for the simple reason that I value my own consciousness higher than that of a plant (or even any animal). Self preservation I guess.

EDIT: PS don't worry about using SWIM here, this site is all sorts of encrypted I am tony and I extract and smoke DMT.
