Well I guess I can cancel that trip to Palenque in December.

December 21, 2012, WILL in fact bring forward important change and global consciousness expansion! Specifically, change that I will no longer be forced to listen to this 2012 non-sense and consciousness expansion through the global understanding that we are worrying about some arbitrary date which happens to align with a stone tablet carved by jungle people who believe in spirits and boogeymen.

I would rather agree with consciousness evolution then total planet destruction but lets not forget that history may repeat one day so why not in December ? This planet has its own cycles that repeats and mayans knew about it as other civilizations before them.

It is definitively better to be prepared for worse to come, not necessary for total planet destruction, then be sorry.

Not that I ever put any stock into the "end of the world" thing. But I find it a good policy not to make fun of it until that day after :-)

I don't care, I'll be experiencing some sort of event, real or not. Y2K was epic for me, an end of the world event in my mind, but otherwise just another midnight from what I heard. 2012 has a really good vibe of positive change, something this fucked up world really needs. Besides, what is the next "event" we have to look forward to after 2012?

Anything is possible. To write something off as impossible is just being ignorant or arrogant. Regardless of the fact that I have researched this topic myself and have found many stone depictions of dates past the ancient Maya date of 13.0.0.0.0, I can't understand myself how people got it in their minds that this was a bad thing for this specific calendar they used to roll over 1 more baktun. The Mayan people had 3 different calendars, and when this baktun rolls over to 13, the other calendars will still be toward the middle of their cycles. Change is happening around us all the time. The world can end in many different ways from different perspectives. The world ending could be as drastic as losing all of ones loved ones or of merely of a person losing all his modern day comforts. Then again we could all be creating a parallel universe in which this scenario is completely true, just because we have all had thoughts of it. Then comes the ideas of whether we are currently in that reality where it is true or in another reality that is only thinking of it. Just some thoughts.
