Quote:In the end, the last resort (and also most effective) is to call upon the Universal power of light and oneness. Whatever your spiritual belief system, many consider this power is your birthright as a child of the Omniverse. Admit that you have reached the limit of your ability to protect yourself, and call upon the highest power you can envision... the light that will radiate through you will be able to dispel any darkness. Remember to be humble if you do this, as it is not your personal power that you have channeled or called upon.
Can anyone elaborate on this? (read the rest if you want but this is the main point of this thread)
I was looking through all of the recommended readings on here and when I got to this part I stopped and just thought
"Wow..."
I don't know much about Spiritualism if I am honest. I was raised Catholic in that I went to Catholic schools but I only went to Church until about the age of 11 and when my secondary school made us.
I abandoned any notions of relgion and spirituality as I discovered more and naively convinced myself that it was all just superstitious hooey.
Now I have accepted that the institutions that represent these faiths are what are corrupt but that the failings of men in this area does not mean that there is nothing to them. Equally, I can only read the English version of any given holy book and, taking the Bible for example, the version I recieve has been through so many translations I don't know what I am really reading...yet the core themes of love and compassion etc make so much sense and really stand out as the real message I suppose.
So can anyone elaborate on that point? What does it mean? Is there basis for it in any teachings by anyone? I don't get to use the 'awesome' in its proper sense very often but just envisaging it seems like this is one thing that really is awesome.
Thanks
