Vegetarianism didn't work for me, veganism didn't, pescatarianism didn't, iboga told me to eat meat so I do now and am happy with the decision.

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

I am an omnivore. And I know that it would take a serious effort if I ever had to stop eating seafood.

That said, I eat little meat and when I do I get it from local, reputable sources. If I am a guest, I won't refuse a roast beef - but I eat more vegetables than ever before.

I have bounced around between omnivore, pescetarian, vegetarian, and vegan diets. Currently I am on the omnivore path out of economic and deliciousness motives (I am a chef and eat two out of three of my daily meals for free, and I do cook up some tasty meats).

I see nothing wrong with eating meat, but my ideal is to eat only grass fed/free range meat, egg, and milk products. This will most likely not happen so long as I have free access to whatever my company would otherwise throw away (yes, I have pushed for donation of excess food, but my idea was shot down for some reason based on liability issues).

I would like to some day be vegetarian due to my environmental and religious viewpoints (buddhist), but my few extended periods of vegetarianism have left me craving meat even when I have followed a solid nutrition plan that incorporates healthy fats and 'complete' proteins. I definitely feel more energetic and alert during these periods, but they are also usually accompanied by regular exercise and meditation so I am far from sold on the idea that vegetarianism is more healthful.

Sorry everyone.. There were only 9 choices available for the poll. Once the poll was made I couldnt edit it.
It was only to find out who eats meat and who is vegetarian. Maybe I should have thought it out better.
Is there any way to edit the poll???

I was a meat eater born. I changed to hardcore veggie. Then 7 years later I went back to meat eater. After 8-9 years I am a pescatarian now. I will become a vegetarian someday again. I would like to do that fruits and veggies diet to open up the creative side of my brain.

Thanks everyone for the poll.

I would like to say that I am an omnivore, understand that you're asking if we eat meat or not, but to call myself a carnivore would mean I would never eat any plants, and that's just not healthy.
A dramatic shift approaches...

Thanks everyone for your votes.

Sorry about the mess up. I left out some things. Embarrased Like an important one. "I was a meat eater but now am a vegetarian" and Omnivore (but I thought that was just a given for meat eaters). Oh and another one "on and off vegetarian diet a few times"

Thanks again!Thumbs up

I used to be a major carnivore, but things have changed recently. Having dabbled in vegetarianism for a while, I decided that I still enjoy a bit of meat a couple of times a week. Too much meat makes my guts horrible, and a strictly vegetarian diet can get a little boring - for me... So, I eat less meat, but when I do it is good quality and ethically raised.

I was a fast-foodmcdonaldhormonecowmilkwithpussandbloodcardboardprocessed"food"ivore..then I went vegeatarian..things went downhill even more eating the typical crappy western vegetarian diet...then I went back onto whole organic foods and meats and some thing imporved..mostly everything got worse and worse and worse..

Then I went totally raw vegan and that helped alot..

and..water water water! You are made of water! No tap crap! Only wild spring water for me..

After some while I have realized the power of wild foods. Alot of 100% raw vegan live on packaged "super foods" to get any real immune protection etc..so I got into wild foods..some wild foods just need to be cooked. SI I have come to the conclusions that anyone trying to be 100% raw in this climate is going to be lacking some thing they could do with..so now I am like 90% or more raw vegan with some cooked foods like wild mushrooms I pick and I eat some steamed potatoes and other foods here and there.

Long live the unwoke.

Pretty much stick to a paleo-style diet - lots of fish, some red meat, colourful fruit and vegetables, lots of butter and olive oil, lots of tea. I add white rice and sweet potatoes as safe starch sources for after exercise. Some quality dairy as I seem to tolerate it well.

No nuts (apart from brazil nuts(for selenium)), no wheat, no vegetable oils, little sugar, no beans.

Supplement with vitamins A, D3, K2, zinc (depending on meat intake) and magnesium (depending on dairy intake), and iodine.

I was a woman-induced vegetarian for about three months. I noticed a pretty drastic decrease in my mood (which might have been due to the woman, not the diet), but I'd like to try it again. It's difficult when you live with/hang around people who eat a lot of meat. Also I love Burger King Embarrased

I have always been a meat eater, and most likely will continue to be until I pass away.

I have found though, that balance is necessary no matter what. My GI tract feels way happier when there's an abundance of vegetation shuffling through it. This of course seems to be just common sense, however the difference is very noticeable to me. I'm not really referring to tubers and starches, as I've always gotten plenty of those. More just... leaves. Salads! Salad is gooooood for you.

Another thing I've noticed is that I can get by on simple sugars like fruits for energy when I'm not being very active. When I'm very active though--most of the time--meat or animal-derived protein is absolutely necessary for adequate recovery. Again, it makes sense and is simple science. Nothing new here. I've just been able to see it in my own life quite clearly as I get older. I just turned 24 and these little diet truths are way more evident than when I was 20 or even 22.

So basically, I love to rely on a balance of salad, fruit, things like potatoes, oats, and quinoa, while eating animal products (eggs included) for their energy component. Meat that agrees with me most tend to be fish, beef, and small birds and game. Like many other people I adore pork, however it is a test to find high quality pig that hasn't been treated with a dozen chemicals or preservatives. As far as fat sources go, I'm a fan of whole milk, cheese, nuts, and olive oil.

In order to cover my bases I also supplement with DHA, magnesium, zinc, and sometimes leucine.

Mostly a Vegan, then I'm also a Pescetarian who enjoys a raw mix with his Fish, then I'll eat other meats on rare occasion if, and only if they come from a good source.
Source is very important to me, I'll never eat take-away or anything of the sort, I expect an incredible amount of potential from my body, so I feed it the necessary fuel.

was a vegetarian to try it out for over 2 years

now i eat meat, but only white meat and steak (fkn jum!) and feel much better then on a veg only diet

if you want to go vegetarian i suggest that you inform yourself extensively about nutrition science. Meaning: which aminoacids, trace elements, minerals, vitamins, etc does the body really need? At least according to latest scientific knowledge, which may have its faults but beats new age delusional ideas anytime.

Good to know these things if youre picky about food.
But please, dont become a food fanatic! These people are friggin annoying.

No omnivore choice? I eat meat and lots of fruit and vegetables. I couldn't eat an all meat diet, I love my veggies!

But I wouldn't give up the little meat I do eat which is all wild or free range, my milk is from grass fed cows and my eggs are from free range chickens.

I'm pretty confused on whether or not to eat meat or become vegan.

I want to stay healthy and don't have a lot of money for supplements.

I've been eating organic and it gets expensive but i feel like its best for me and the planet.

Ive been going to church and they say that God used to not allow meat untill after the adam and eve thing or something like that.

So does that mean that fruits and veggies won't make you de-feciant of vitamins?

My arguement is i have a cat and love animals more than humans at times. especially cats. Dogs too even though some turn on their owners.

So i don't want to eat animals cause i love them and plants too though i love nature.

Doesn't eating fruits and plants harm the plants too, i mean they are energy and life as well? they must feel pain and have souls? I mean they have no face, but does that even matter?

Seeds are still new life right? thats like aborting a baby, its just unatural, though i kinda believe in pro-choice.

Isnt that bad karma too? or didnt the buddha say just eating animals was bad karma?

The mushroom told me one time everything in moderation. But its also told me lies before as well.

I love eating meat its tasty, i don't have much of a problem with the way i feel after eating it, i don't over eat so i still get energy from it.

BUt i do want to do whats best for my body.

I just want to do the right thing.. are we just murders, is it ok to take lives(plants, animals) to feed ourselves?

Just cause plants don't show emotion that we can percieve, like animals when they are taken from their young to be slaughtered, does that make it okay?

I mean the food chain is natural right?

HUmans/indians always hunted in the old days, thats all they could do? But we have a choice now and enough knowledge to eat othe rthings as sources of protein.

I mean we were given sharp teeth to tear through meat.

But we were also given tempers and violence/hatred that isn't good and are learning to control. so i'm confused.

I wanna do my best here on earth, is that possible? I mean are humans just evil? should we just get our kicks and do what we want/like even if it harms others?

PLEASE HELP. Thanks.

If you're confused, why not try being a vegetarian. A happy medium.

Then once accustomed to that, it will be easier to become vegan, if you wish.

Going straight from meat-eating to veganism is quite a leap... Going from meat to vegetarianism (including some cheese, milk and eggs etc.) will be a far smoother transition. To make it even smoother you could include a small portion of fish once or twice a week, then phase that out.

Just a thought Smile

If I was a plant I would be excited to be eaten by a human.
It was the fabled year 2012. Within the seemingly doomed and feeble slave-species of homo-sapien sapien a minute percentage began experimenting with various forms of psycho-active plant allies and thought manifestation techniques. Unbeknownst to them, this would be the birthing of a new sub-species, the highest form of Life in the universe. With the assistance of these timeless plant teachers a new race was born, a race without boundaries, physical or mental, a race without judgement or violence. Divinity had descended upon the inconspicuous planet of Earth and cosmic-man was born.

Thats basically what ive been doing. It's not really that its hard to switch over for me as much as its a thought that keeps popping up in my mind.

Been making smoothies from fruits and veggies with my vitamix mostly.

BUt there still is that big meal of meat it seems like i'm missing, or just a solid food(even though it gets chewed up) that will stay in my stomach so i don't have to eat for a awhile, cause it seems like i have to eat every couple of hours with veggies and fruit, even grains.

Plus its time consuming.

I wish there was just a pill to take. BUt then again eating should be about tatse and enjoying it. And nutrition as well.

BUt sometimes i think "fuck it you only live once who cares about health/longevity. Youll probably just get in a car crash, live it up"

and i sit down to eat and i feel like im at war with my concience. Like sometimes i don;t care if i'm eating a life or a face. And then again sometime si get all emotional about it.

And its so hard to eat around others without being ridiculed. Or when your invited over, or they come and cook for you.

Its like god says its ok i gave all this to you. But my hippy side is saying save the planet. And then the mushroom has said moderation in everything. Seems like the shrooms says one thing one time and another the next.

I do feel much better since the vitamix and been mixing 1/2 a cup of different veggies together, same with fruit a little bit of everything... makes 4 big glasses of smoothie for a couple days.

Also started taking Garden of Life brand probiotics and their Raw Multivitamin, both about $26 bucks. I take a fish oil supplement. Drink lots of spring water. But still getting confused in life. On everything it seems.

Whats right, whats wrong.
