SWIM has done many successful extractions with no problems at all. But lately he's been having trouble with freeze precip, so a couple questions.

Does the freezing container have to be air tight?

Also the second pull out of the freezer had very little crystals (the first was fine), but the crystals were very big white blobs, but when he tried to dry them they went wet and dissolved. The next pull started to do the same in the freezer after 20 mins or so, so he poured the naptha into a diffrent container and has placed it back in the freezer but it doesnt look like much is happening. Shall he continue with the third pull with the same naptha or change naptha? And has he lost whatever spice was in the naptha or will it still be there?

Any help appreciated

Thanks Big grin

Well the freeze precipitate does not need to be air-tight. It SHOULD be however because flammable fumes in a freezer isn't a good thing. Not to mention contaminating food with naptha.

You're problem probably lays in the fact that you have used too much naptha. You can try evaporating it down a bit then 24 hours in the freezer. Nothing is lost unless it was spilled.
