My questions to you all are, what sort of religious beliefs (or absence thereof) do you hold? Are you in the same religion that you were raised in(assuming you were raised in one)? And to wrap it all up with the questions that I really want to know your opinions on: Did your religious beliefs change upon your personal experiences with DMT? Did your experiences make you have a 'falling out' with your religion, or compel you to change to a new one, or did it reinforce your beliefs, or did it have no effect on your religiousness?

I do not want this to turn into an attempt to convert anyone, I also do not intend for anyone to become offended with this discussion, and as I do with my friends, I want everyone to just "agree to disagree" to avoid conflict, as this can be a touchy topic for a lot of people.

I understand some of you are little worked up over the discussion, but I intended on this being: share you're experience/opinions, and be done with it; not to continue to send post after post trying to further explain your positions to everyone, I don't think clarifications are really needed to be across multiple posts here, and agree to disagree with the people who don't share the same opinions as you do. I wanted to avoid conflict while sharing, not create it.

Let me get this straight....your annoyed because I'm saying that I spoke to the Messiah while under the influence of psychedelics or are you annoyed because I'm saying that this is an experience any one could have if they so wanted? I could very easily say the same thing about Satan, would that be just as bothersome?

Annoyed may not be the right word, but yes it does bother me a bit when people start saying that I could speak to Jesus if I wanted it's just that I don't want to and that's a "fact". It's the same thing that idiots like Ray Comfort hit out with (I'm not calling you an idiot at all, or comparing you to Ray Comfort on anything other than that one thing).

Honestly I have no issue with what you experience... we all have very interesting experiences and this is a great place to share them. It's just when people start telling me that the only reason I can't speak to their messiah is because I don't want to, I can't see how anyone can make that claim and keep a straight face. People all over the world have had similar (yet very different) experiences to you and make the exact same kind of assertions about their own gods/messiahs.

Feel free to PM me if you want, I don't want to discuss it in this thread since it seems to be bothering OP.

Threads about religion always end up going off on a tangent and never really seem to get anywhere, but as long as there aren't personal insults or genuine anger getting thrown around I don't think it's a big deal. Debate is healthy, although I understand this is your thread and you may not want to have to read through a bunch of people debating about something you're not interested in, lol.

That's pretty much what I was getting at yes, I was wanting the opinions of others, but not the debate, it can be healthy, so use those private messages to your heart's content to debate over the opinions that I requested.

OK...Tony..

I understand where your'e coming from....My wording really wasn't the best...

Didn't mean for my "you can see Jesus if you want to" comment to sound so darned guilt trippy.

Looking back on my post....I sort of did sound like a Jewish mother saying..."you never write Jesus, You never Call Jesus,....how is he even supposed to know your even alive??? Just look at him...He's worried sick, he's been up all night calling all the hospitals and jailhouses in town. He was sure something haarrible had happened, God Forbid!"

nice pick-up...

anyway, I don't think it is really possible to declare the visions one sees while under the influence of DMT, in any form, as consensually "real". I have "seen" the Ahl al-Kisa - but I cannot know if it was really them or if it was just a conjecture in my own mind building me that image because that is how DMT knows how to build a "religious" experience for me. Who can say in this ever-shifting territory that is DMT?

I forgot to mention this: As I envisioned the Prophet Muhammad (saws) and his closest companions and I felt the great peace that was also moving within me in a strange mechanical repetition of inertia, a feathered serpent burst in upon the scene and was moving in concert with the Ahl al-kisa; I connect this serpent-dragon with Quetzalcoatl, but I have seen other dissimilar forms various feathered serpents/dragons... This adds a very strange element, as it would seem that these two visions are inimical to each other but after a brief alarm over the strangeness of it, the two resolved and became strangely symmetrical... DMT just has a way of letting such disparate visions co-habitate my mind! It's just part of the inherent magic of the stuff.

At the time of that vision I wondered what a "christian" vision would be like and a few weeks ago Jurema-harmel gave me the most stereotypical christian vision! I mean, don't get me wrong, it felt good - but it was just so weird to have that after having basically zero christian inclinations and only after basically asking for one, got it!

The medicine is slippery stuff. There's no way of really saying that any one model of reality -verified by vision or not- is true; it cannot be independently validated and so in a way we are all alone in our personal models of reality which only at best intersect with one another. And even that is only my own conjecture, a personal model that I almost considered "reality" as I was typing it!

And on and on and on!

I was raised to be a christian, then I went atheist after that I started to believe there may be a god but it was nothing like the one I had learned about in church.

After psychedelics I believe we all are divine and very much a part of god/ universe.I think the part I like best
is I no longer am terrified of death.I do not see it as an end anymore more like a new begining.

I think we can all agree that few things in this life are more Divine than joy and laughter.

I was not raised in a religious household at all. If anything my mother was more like some kind of armchair pagan..she had lots of books on witchcraft and astral projection and herbalism and UFO's etc..but she does not practice anything like meditation or anything like that so I dunno..I remember watching shows about astral travel and alien abductions when I was like 8 years old though, and was reading Robert Monroe when I was like 13.

I spent some time at college studying religious anthropology..mainly due to my interest and frequent use of mushrooms at the time that eventaully led into DMT and ayahasca..

I dont know a whole lot about abramahmic religions..but from what I do I think that basically all of the religions go back to the vedas..even scandanavian culture I think at some point can be linked to vedic culture.

DMT never really changed my mind about religions(which to me at the time mostly meant christianity). I always thought christians were weak minded and naive to be prefectly honest. Maybe that offends some people but that is how I have always truely felt. I have relatives who go to church and I had friends whos families were VERY religious as a child. I went to church camp for 2 weeks once with these people and all it did was enforce my distaine for abrahamic religions and just religion in general.

Now, psychedelics brought up to the surface some deeply spititual beliefs inside of me..I have had OBE's on and off my entire life as well as lucid dreams..along with some other very weird memories of things that went on in these states from a very young age..so I dont think there was ever a time in my life where I really believed that everyday reality was all there is..

Nothing has compared to psychedelics though..They have changed me due to what they have opened up within me..I have a tendency to want to push it with these things as well..when I first smoked pot I loved it and smoked it many times a day for about 6 years..I took mushrooms maybe 150-200 times in like a 5 year period..I smoked salvia maybe 200 times..experimented a little with other things like LSA and LSD though they never really grabbed my attention so much..mescaline opened my heart but I only took it a handful of times..bufotenine facinated me so I smoked it at least 100 times, and every night in high doses for about a month once..then DMT..god I have no idea how much DMT I have inhaled or how much ayahuaca I have drunk..but it is alot..more than any other entheogen..and I think it has permanently shifted something in my nervous system..and sometimes that is not always the most awesome thing I will admit..because it is work. Ayahuasca is called THE WORK for a reason..once you truely see, there is no going back...there is only integration into a larger modality.

I dont know how a person could ever do that without being changed..forever. I cant go back. The whole idea of a religion just seems rediculous to me at this point. Why would someone without silly insecurities need a religioun to explain that which cannot be explained?

I am a gnostic because of psychedelics and will always be a gnostic.

and yeah, at the end of the day true innocence and true knowledge intersect within the simple act of childlike laughter. Nothing is more cosmic.
Long live the unwoke.

I know this thread is older a bit but I cannot write to anywhere I want as a new member. So I decided to write here.

I was born in a muslim country,so I was a muslim until I found the courage to questionize it.Then I've been an atheist sometime later.I'm still atheist if it's about the god or religions.I absolutely don't believe any concept of god or any religion.

I've started to use psychedelics with cannabis and it helped me much about religious things and philosophy.I've learnt to thinking more analytical through weed. Then I met real psychedelics after years and I thought maybe I'm believing something. After a while I realized this must be true meaning of belief. It wasn't about religions or god and I realized that I never lost this belief in my life.It hasn't got any relation with heaven&hell, reward&punishment or religious, culturel dogmas.I believe there is something more, there is something different and maybe there's an explanation of everything. And I can find it,I can see it or I can feel it somehow.I realized that I never gave up from this idea,I never gave up from investigating just because of this belief. And I found myself be ready to smoke 40 mgs of DMT after all.I have really great expectations in this moment and I felt a hesitation before inhale it a bottle of cloudy smoke. And I can clearly say it met my expectations more than enough before I exhaled it...Now I don't believe,I know there is something and I also realized that I've already known it,I didn't learn it just. And now it's time to know what I've known,it's time to remember. However I don't want to be impatient, because it's much more powerful and staggering than I think.

Haven't read the whole thread...

Buts its definitely hilarious that millions if not billions of religious folk all over the world believe there is a magical dimension of love and light filled with higher beings that exist beyond our immediate perceptive reality, that you might just go to when you die...

...gee.. kinda sounds familiar don't it Laughing

I was questioning my religious beliefs long before DMT was on the scene. Its hard not to when you see so much injustice and abuse stemming directly from the church - and think that this has been going on for 2000+ years! Something inside of me became deeply suspicious of such rigid, dogmatic organisations.

I realised that worshiping at a church is not my thing, particularly when I wasn't sure if there even was a God. I did not need to go down that route to have a rewarding spiritual life. But the questions kept on nagging - why are we here? what is my purpose? etc - the usual growing up, wanting to find answers to things that really didn't have one specific answer. So with that in mind I will try to answer your questions as best I can:

what sort of religious beliefs (or absence thereof) do you hold?

God, for me, is the energy or driving force behind the universe. I frequently commune with DMT which helps me to connect to this mighty force - which is also present inside us. It just needs a little coaxing Pleased I do not subscribe to any one religious doctrine, how ever I do take on board and incorporate certain techniques, teachings and customs from many, for instance prayer and meditation. I also celebrate Christmas and easter, but do not consider myself Christian as such - they are great holidays for seeing loved ones, which makes them sacred enough for me.

Are you in the same religion that you were raised in(assuming you were raised in one)?

I was raised Church of England (Protestant), how ever I do not consider myself a follower of this religion.

Did your religious beliefs change upon your personal experiences with DMT? Did your experiences make you have a 'falling out' with your religion, or compel you to change to a new one, or did it reinforce your beliefs, or did it have no effect on your religiousness?

Seeing as I am not religious, no. How ever certain beliefs (which are always subject to change) have been reinforced, while others have been dropped. I had 'fallen out' with my religion long before hyperspace, and was not compelled to go back to it, or find another to replace it once I had experienced DMT fully. I have since how ever become more interested in Buddhist philosophy.

Psychedelics and particularly DMT have opened me up and stripped away a lot of unnecessary garbage that I was attached to. For a while I was torn between how I wanted to live, and how others perceived me / expected me to be. That no longer matters to me. turns out those worth their salt will stick around any way, regardless of the things you enjoy. I have also learned that material things are often inconsequential to our happiness.

Now - DMT has thrust me into the presence of something so enormous, so mysterious, so powerful, so beautiful, so glorious, so terrible, so mindblowing that I can only describe it as Divine - decades of Church and religious education have never connected me to the Divine in the way that this 'drug' has. It opened me up, spilt my contents everywhere and humbled me by showing me just how small I was, and yet how interconnected everything and everyone really is. It made me appreciate my existence like nothing else. It taught me to keep my mind open and go with the flow. It showed me DEEP states of meditation that I would probably never have experienced unless I devoted my life to that path, it showed me unimaginable love and ecstasy and fear beyond anything life has thrown at me so far, and I feel stronger for it. DMT for me is a portal to the mysterious and divine, and I can go there any time I want, I don't need some corrupt organisation to help me get there.

Hope that answers your questions! Wink

Your explanation of the effect that DMT has had on you is closer to what i felt than anything I have heard anyone one else say. Beautiful! Thank you! Nothing has ever/will ever be the same. Split wide open-yes.
