sorry for posting this here but i cant post anywere else yet.

im thinking of doing magic mushrooms, and want to know how dangerous they are.
i understand anything can be harmfull when abused. but if magic mushrooms are taken responsibly then how bad for you are they?
what is the risk of death, serious injury, brain damage or something?

also how do you know how much to have?
i know that each mushroom has differant amounts in each mushroom.

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

3.5g of p. cubensis. They have absolutely no negative health effects.

as far as i'm concerned magic mushrooms are one of the most amazing things on the planet.

If your responsible with them you'll actually be better than before you did them.

read everything you can, there is an incredible amount of disinformation regarding mushrooms.

qwer, i'm glad you are taking the time to adress these questions as they are very important. Everytime we are putting food into our stomachs we should ask ourselves if this particular substance is good for me and if it is wise to take the risks.

Fortunatly, magic mushrooms are pretty safe, also compared to other substances. Make sure to be in a safe spot your first time, start rather low and possibly have a friend nearby. Then im pretty confident that nothing negative will happen.

Here is also a study on "paddos", done in the netherlands:

Mushrooms have no negative (physical) health effects (that is, the p. cubensis family) but always start out low.

Eat like 2-3 and if you start feeling a good buzz after an hour or so you can still add some. If you reach the peak your body builds up some kind of tolerance. You can still extend your trip by adding shrooms but no longer make it stronger.

The most important part is that every shroom can have a completely different potency. So sometimes 2g can do almost nothing whilst sometimes 1g gets you tripping balls.

Best effects are had on an empty stomach (i.e. if you plan to trip in the evening don't eat anything during the day).

They're not dangerous, physically speaking. They're not necessarily dangerous in the psychological sense either, but:

Do the research, be aware of set and setting and possibly have a sober sitter with you.

Set & setting is very important. It depends on what you're looking for. For instance, if you want to see nature like you never did before, try them outdoors (nature) with a sober, unintrusive friend who's there for you.
This is the time to really find out who you are and enjoy every moment you have. Take advantage of it.

Just don't eat 20g's and go traffic walking.

If that doesn't go without saying, you probably need a carer and should forget psychedelics altogether.

I would suggest you start with a small dose your first time. Start with a gram or 1.5, dedicate a whole day/night too it, and eat more as you feel comfortable and want too. My first psychedelic experience was 3.5 grams in a non-ideal setting and was my least fruitful/worst experience so far, had a hard time integrating anything from the trip to gain insight or better myself.

Also you can have side-effects of unexplained sleepiness which is completely normal but always found it strange, think it has something to do with 4-ho-dmt, like a dream-state. You can also get sweaty palms and just feel really weird if your not used to it. So just be smart and you will love it, and no worries youll be fine!

I suggest you go somewhere remote and beautiful in nature.

Not dangerous at all, unless YOU are the danger to yourself and freak out and do something dumb.

Start with 2g, work your way up. 2g usually gets me going well..

The most often overlooked danger of psychedelic mushrooms is a spiritual not physical one.

Opening the door to the spirit world just for kicks is not advisable but if your serious about learning and you have a stable psychological foundation...then happy trails to you.

In terms of invoking delusions they can be dangerous, yes. Physically they are not.

deffintly not dangerous, i think the lethal dose is like a trash bag worth of shrooms and ppl with cluster headaches and such use it as medicine.
mentally speaking it can be one of the best things for u, very healing stuff, just like others said make sure u choose a good set and setting. This isnt pot u need to have a nice safe place where u can chill for a good 6-8 hours(highly recommend camping out) and no work the next day

I have been considering the delusions that I have experienced on mushrooms, and it was a point of contention between my friend and I when we last tripped. I think we each had 3 grams dried cubes, and although the trip itself was not overpowering my internal monologue went into hyperdrive for a decent portion of the trip. My thoughts were racing, which is something I have also experienced with mimosahuasca. Anyway, I proposed the idea that our mushroom experiences are psychotic episodes, and that we have mistaken pure delusions for revelations. These delusions don't extend beyond the trips. It's an idea I've been playing around with, and while it doesn't take away from the enjoyment it does ever so slightly diminish the experience.

in reality though, psychotic episodes and psychedelic experiences are 2 very different things. If you have ever had psychotic or schizophrenic people in your family it is quite apparent that there is a BIG difference.

"Delusion" is a just a word..thats it..nothing less nothing more. Psychedelic ideas are just that..psychedelic ideas. One mans deulsion is another mans revelation. It is good I think to not get too caught up in a game of musical words..Usually within a psychedelic idea I find there is alot of applicable content to be extracted..

A graph showing dangers of various drugs to the user and to others. Very useful. Maybe this could be pinned somewhere?

The only bad thing mushrooms gave me was nausea and a heavy body load a couple times. But even with that, the aftermath was clean and pleasant.

Just take your baby steps, listen to the good advice already given and you will be fine.

depending on the potency 3.5g as suggested can be a very strong dose - also depends on your body-mass of course. I would start lower. 2g seems a more sound suggestion to me

as to the danger... physically I would say: directly none. indirectly some, in case you end up doing something silly, but chances are rather slim unless you are already prone to silly behaviour.

However psychologically they can be quite... challenging... things like bad trips do happen from time to time and sometimes they happen despite chosing what you thought was a good setting and despite having what you thought was a good mind-set. Luckily there is no long-term damage ... but psychologically it can be taxing to have a very scary, dark or painful experience.

Most of the times you will probably come nowhere close to anything like a bad trip. But the risk is there. Plan ahead, have someone with you to calm you down, to take care of you in case you start freaking out, or know before hand what to do... (i.e. call a friend or call emergency?) With a bad trip you are usually in no physical danger, other than maybe choking on your own vomit and the likes, but you might feel like you are in danger, like you can't breathe, like THEY are after you, like you are about to die... The best thing to remember is that you will come down after about 4 hours, so even if it's hell, keep looking at that clock... it will pass eventually.

I usually want the day after the trip to be free, so I can integrate and relax and recover.

Hoping of course that you never experience anything bad. Mushrooms are safe but they aren't always easy.
Good luck.
