Hello everybody!

I was reading the wiki on this site for quite a while and decided to join now since this is looking to be one of the nicest communities (atleast compared with bluelight and things like that) I've come across.

I am very interested in DMT, Mescaline, 5-MeO-DMT and other natural hallucinogens as well as the Research Chemicals (been involved in the RC scene for a few years now but currently stopped and got rid of what I had).

So yeah, never tried DMT before, just Shrooms (1 time), LSD (1 time) and 2C-E & 4-HO-MiPT (~50 times) but I am very eager to see what DMT will do to me. So far what I've read sounds extremely interesting.

I am studying chemistry (will get my BSc this summer) and will go on doing synthetic chemistry with a couple of pharmacology/toxicology classes mixed in since this is what I am really interested in. So this aspect of this DMT forum is also quite fun for me, I basically am standing in a lab for a living and I just can't get enough of it and am looking forward to get a couple of extra lab-hours tweaking and looking how to get the best results.

Hopefully I will be accepted and regarded as an enrichment to this community because I sure know that this community will be very helpful for me.

You said you are interested in those alkaloids, but that you never tried them. So any plans of an extraction soon? Any specific method that calls your attention?

What about oral DMT/ayahuasca use? Any interest?

Well, I think the difficult part is acquiring plant material that has in fact alkaloids in high concentrations. This is something noone can see before an extraction and this differs from plant to plant. As far as the extraction goes I think I will stick to the tek's described here, maybe I will spice them up with some of the techniques I learned at my university though I haven't done excessively much about extractions/isolations.

What could be really interesting for some of you is a new approach people on my university are looking at for the extraction of pharmaceuticals in plants: Ionic liquids can open up and dissolve plant material much better than just soaking in water would do and so far the best yields for extraction have been reported with ionic liquids, they are also re-usable in many instances so a very environemt-friendly new aspect as well.

You are in for quite a ride my friend. Don't jump in too deep and try to find someone to lead you on your first experiences with DMT as it can still be a very profound experience for the experienced.

Ionic fluids sound like an interesting avenue to follow. I can't wait to read some of your future posts on the subject.

Well I'd love to get my hands onto some of the IL's we use in research but as they are a little pricey and not at all available to the public I think it's still a long way ahead until this gets used by the broader community.

Yes I've read through these topics and am quite intrigued by the complexity of the issue. Especially for a preparative chemist like myself these complex composites of many different chemicals are hard to grasp as my goal is purity.
