Career advice from Alan Watts

just listened to this and thought it was quite good.
at this moment in time im at a crossroads in life, many options and potential paths lay before me but i dont really know what i want to do for the rest of my life..

there's a few things in the works at the moment but to be honest i have no idea how things are going to turn out even 2 years from now. ah well, c'est la vie, eh?
i know for a majority of people in my age group (20-30) this is common.
thoughts?
Gun it to 88...

Career advice from ۩: Don't settle for BS. Don't be a slave. Do what you want. Do what you need.

I'll take career advice from Mr. Watts or Mr. House anytime. Very happy

About a month ago someone here at the nexus told me to follow my dreams. It seems like such a cliche at first, but the more you think about it, the more its meaning starts become so ridiculously obvious. Like what the hell have I been doing the last 20 years? Sure I had some fun when I was a kid but ever since then it's just been about getting conditioned for the monetary system, and living your life for someone else, essentially becoming a slave.

Now why would I do a thing like that when the alternative is to do the things that I love? And eventually by mastering those things you can feed yourself, if you still happen to be within the monetary system. (I personally won't be for long)

Life is frickin' short. Make it count.

Besides the already given good advice, and to be a little more pragmatic, there is a few things I would keep in mind if I were you. Obvious if you want, but they don't hurt to say.

- Do something that will allow you to feel good with yourself. And as ۩ said, no bullshitting to yourself with what "feeling good" really means. When you take one big look inside you know, and if it's always foggy just go with your plant teacher.

- Choose jobs and activities that will allow you to need less. Traveling light is good given the circumstances.

- Do things that bring you close to good, interesting people you can learn from and enjoy with.

I like Joseph Campbell's advice. "Follow your bliss." I've been on this path most of my life and I have no complaints and a head full of wonderful experiences to look back on and smile and lots of good things to look forward to in the future. Best of luck to you and your journey.
Let us declare nature to be legitimate. All plants should be declared legal, and all animals for that matter. The notion of illegal plants and animals is obnoxious and ridiculous.
