Hair loss has a range of different causes and the key point is to identify any underlying cause and focus the treatment on this.Important points in the history/examination include age, sex, distribution, rapidity of onset, taking certain medications, co-existing health problems, use of hair products and the appearance of the area of the body which has lost the hair.
Treatable causes include tinea capitis (fungal scalp infection), thyroid disorders, diabetes, iron deficiency (+/- a degree of malnutrition), lupus, folliculitis and alopecia areata. A competent doctor should be able to work out whats what by considering these aspects AND examining the area of hairloss closely.
I am paranoid of my brain. It thinks all the time, even when I'm asleep. My thoughts assail me. Murderous lechers they are. Thought is the assassin of thought. Like a man stabbing himself with one hand while the other hand tries to stop the blade. Like an explosion that destroys the detonator. I am paranoid of my brain. It makes me unsettled and ill at ease. Makes me chase my tail, freezes my eyes and shuts me down. Watches me. Eats my head. It destroys me.
