I'm gonna be doing Ron's tek this week, but I don't plan on cleaning it with the MEK.

Find it at a paint or hardware store...It is used as a paint thinner...

You must dry it out though first...Place a thin layer of epsom salts on tin foil place in 400 degree oven for 2 hours. turn oven off and let cool down in oven without opening door. Put MEK in a mason jar and add 30 grams Dried Epsom salts...put tin foil over jar top and seal tightly with lid(Tin foil stops mek from eating rubber seal) Shake well and put in freezer for 24 hours shaking every few hours...let settle after last shake and draw what you need off top withoput disturbing epsom salts...

that is so cool....

here is my question for you....is it really that important to do this step? what is wrong with the mescaline acetate the way it is?

important, if you find it necessary to dissect the extract further
i believe dry mek separates pure mesc from the other alkaloids, dry because mesc is water soluable a wet mek cleaning wouldnt separate anything

i prefer not using mek, good clean m-acetate is how you say bomb diggity Smile

i hear microwaving epsom salts is better than baking, but this is not first hand experience talking

MEK is only necessary for pure extracts where you want to measure the absolute potency or dosage. If you extract from a known quantity, of known potency, it doesn't really matter. Just measure your dosage relative to the quantity of cactus. I bought some MEK a while back but never got around to using it.

Pure mescaline is the only way to fly.Cool

That was 69ron's opinion. He explained all of this but for those that missed it, at least one of the chemicals in that sticky orange/brown gunk is a sedative. Comes on before the mescaline and lasts a couple hours. Generally makes the experience more dreamy. Why not try it both ways and choose for yourself.

The MEK must be cold as your freezer can get. Do not allow it to warm up at all. Put your dirty mescaline in a small beaker, cover with foil and chill it in the freezer as well. You don't want the cold MEK to be warming up after it's in the beaker with the mescaline.

After pouring a relatively small amount of freezing cold, anhydrous MEK into the small beaker, vigorously smash the dirty mescaline up for a few minutes with an implement of some sort that can used like a pestle. A flat-ended piece of glass rod for instance. Cover the beaker with foil and put it back in the freezer for 4-5 minutes to allow the mescaline to settle. Handle the beaker very, very gently when removing from freezer and pouring off the orange/brown MEK into a glass casserole dish. You don't want to stir up the mescaline.

Repeat a few times. Some mescaline with come over with the gunk but will tend to be mostly separated into a whitish spot that can be scraped up.

A buchner funnel/filter and filtration flask with a hand vacuum pump is the ideal tool for removing epsom salts from your solvent.
