LOL
If your religion, faith, devotion, or self proclaimed spirituality is not directly leading to an increase in kindness, empathy, compassion and tolerance for others then you have been misled.

People claim to have psychedelic experiences with meditation, so it should be possible with yoga. However, what's meant when we say yoga in the modern west is a version of hatha yoga (involving postures) or ashtanga vinyasa (also physical, but involving breath too) that is practiced and adapted partly for fitness purposes. It's kind of a fitness-meditation class. Mind you, there are a bunch of groups out there practicing types of yoga that claim to be 'the real thing', like kundalini for example. The best thing to do in my opinion is to try them all out and get a sense of what's out there, and what suits you best.

I don't recommend going with a dvd though. Nothing beats actually being in the room, with a teacher guiding you live.

Also, don't expect a psychedelic experience. Expect to be in a room, doing yoga. It's physically difficult, but mentally engaging, and as you get immersed in the practice week after week, month after month, you can expect to pick up some mental tools that may very well be useful in hyperspace. You can also expect to get healthy, and that's useful in any space.

If by psychedelic you mean altered states, then yes. However, don't expect to reach something as intense as a chemically induced trance for a long time, maybe never.

As mentioned by Shayku above, Kundalini is focused on releasing the energy stored at the base of the spine. Once awakened, the Kundalini energy will presumably move upwards, activating the chakras and inducing mystical experiences (culminating in enlightenment -best case scenario).

I say it's great that we have many different tools to explore the world and who we are, but if the psychedelic experience is what you're looking for, then maybe you should just take psychedelics. You should also try yoga, but without the expectations.

Yeah, it's easy. Step 1: take some psychedelics. Step 2: do some yoga. Step 3: ????????? Step 4: Profit

That's all there is to it. Pleased But seriously, do it. Get a good video(there are tons out there; I have one by Baron Baptiste that I really like), eat some mushrooms, and bliss yourself out on some yoga. You'll feel amazing.

This other resource, titles "The Biology of Kundalini" suggests a more literal connection between the yoga, meditation, and particularly DMT.
