well this evening just before dark in the rain I found this vine. Its growing all over spiraling up trees and sprireling around its self. vines from the size of a pincel to about maybe 2in in diamiter. I had no machette or tools to cut a sample but was able to rip off some of the bark. the inner bark can easly be pulled from the outter bark. It gets reddish vains/sap where the bark is split. I live in the tropical rain forest of maui, Hawaii. could this be caapi? here are some crappy phone photos of the bark after i brought it home. will go back in a few days to get a better sample. any idea what this vine is?

You should look at the leaves and post pictures of the plant in its natural state. Being cut up on a table might be harder to tell. Plus if it was diagnosed wrong from lack of "knowing" then you could potentually poison yourself. Be careful!

thats def not caapi.
na easy thing to do next time is make a clean cut and look at the pattern. Caapi makes a well defined flower pattern cross section. Its quite beautiful.

Olympus mon -Wow!! That cutaway is soooo cool! Truely psychedelic! It looks like a fractal! Or a basic one of repeating. Unlike other plants. I think it is trying to tell us something Pleased
