Ah, finished some long standing work tasks today and went out for a run in the rain. After a nice hot shower I'm listening to some music and browsing the nexus and bluelight.

There I found this post.

A bunch of statements intrigued me (for instance, is exercise before the roll and the day after really good for you? I would guess this puts even more stress on a body that's going to be stressed by MDMA or already recovering from it), but in particular..

If what he says is correct and lower serotonin levels == more damage, and if it really takes one month to get back to regular serotonin levels, then won't taking, for instance, LSD during this period also exarcebate the damage?

Feel free to comment on individual paragraphs from the linked post if you have the background knowledge to back it up.. your input is very much appreciated, as always.

Just listen to your body. I am not a doctor, or neuroscientist, I am just a drug user, so my advice might not be the best around. I love a work out or at least stretching before MDMA. I can't see how dosing LSD ever could be a bad thing, but what do I know? Waiting at least a month before using MDMA is just a good idea, anyway.

Do what feels right, pre load, post load, and don't take it too often. How can you really go wrong?

Definitely, I'm 100% with you here.

The reason I ask is mostly out of curiosity (and want to understand more, this is increasingly becoming an area of great interest to me), but also because I am very wary of damaging my nervous system with these explorations. AFAIK, and I've read a good deal about it, the psychedelics should be no cause for concern, as far as physical damage goes (I'm aware of the psychological risks).

MDMA may be a different story - altough I've often wondered if this isn't more of the same - think "LSD damages chromosomes" and hindsight with the passage of time - though.

And while I can genuinely say that I don't feel the faintest desire to use it again anytime soon (had a pretty great experience last weekend, wrote some about it in another thread at this subforum), I'm always on the lookout for new information and greater understanding.

The reason I asked about LSD is because some of the stuff the poster said, in relation to drugs that may affect the serotonin system.

While to the best of my knowledge LSD does not release serotonin the way MDMA does, I am uncertain of it's real effect on the serotonin system, hence the concern.

I for sure would not take MDMA monthly..

If you must take it that often maybe concider taking caapi a week or 2 after the MDMA to upregulate the seratonin receptors. From what I understand the seratonin lowering after MDMA is not from less seratonin, it is from receptor downregulation as a responce to high seratonin levels..I could be wrong though.

The resulting experiment whittled down 1,500 potential participants to 52 selected users, whose cognitive abilities matched those of a group of 59 non-users. "We even took hair samples of participants to test whether they were telling the truth about their drug and alcohol habits," said Halpern. "Essentially we compared one group of people who danced and raved and took ecstasy with a similar group of individuals who danced and raved but who did not take ecstasy. When we did that, we found that there was no difference in their cognitive abilities." In other words, previous studies highlighted problems triggered by other factors, such as use of other drugs or drink, or sleep deprivation.

I've taking Ecstasy and/or MDMA more times than I can count. While my brain has a few misfires, I don't attribute it to this. Probably more from the days of binge drinking. Just to be safe, I've always pre-loaded on smoothies and 5-HTP. Also, (I don't suggest this w/o MD approval) a single SSRI at the onset of comedown works wonders.

The tongue-in-cheek pushy way this guy lays his arguments is very offputting. Too many "facts" and zero links to his "references" simply ruin it for any good, reasonable points he may have.
