I have never been but am seriously considering it..

Here is a video from 2010, this year its at the same spot

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zIJA7RoYqhU

For more info check out their website ..

Its a lonnggg drive but I am seriously considering it after checking out the artists on their page via youtube ..

So I have a few questions..

Has anyone every been in the past? What is the experience like? How are the people?

Thanks

Very happy Very happy Very happy

one of my first psy festivals. ive been twice-maybe 3and 4 yrs ago.

the first time it was at a eco village, and the latter it was on a river- maybe a hundred miles apart.

the festival has been on hiatus for 2 yrs, i believe.

tech safari puts on an excellent show. this is probably the largest and most professionally put together festival like this on the east coast n. america.--(i still have not been to the festivals in near Asheville, n.c., where there is a strong scene.)

they draw dozens of artists from around the world, many live acts (all electronic). I remember floating in the river listening to shpongle. my girl and i volunteered for admission, and met some really awesome artists from alberta/b.c.

this festival with the clean, vibrant, open atmosphere, top notch-excellent music, smiling, beautiful people (one girl passed out watermelon after an EPIC hallucinogen sunrise set)---this festival caused me to fall in love with the psy trbe.

there are a handful of much smaller/more intimate festivals in quebec/ontario that are amazing as well.

as of now, we are planning for BOOM festival in portugalVery happy (same week)Sad if for any reason that falls thru, eclipse will be it

Yeah, you have to like psy. I heard so-so things about it - too big, too many jock types, too crazy. But apparently a lot of people like that.
SWIM is Spartacus!

The things posted on DMT-Nexus by Shayku are generally false. They are for entertainment purposes only.

It's a cool festival. I'd say it really is in between an underground and mainstream kinda atmosphere, but usually a very good vibe. Really professional and clean, good soundsystem, varied music, various kind of people from different parts of the east coast. If you like psytrance, you'll probably enjoy it. Music goes from psytrance, to techno, to prog and psybient, probably some dub and psychedelic dubstep too. They are also bringing Asura and Birds of Prey this year...

I wouldn't say "too crazy". Quite the contrary actually. I think it's one of those festivals where people don't get tooooo fucked up (unlike Shambhala on the west coast of Canada, for example). Still, I guess it depends on your tolerence to big parties and I can totally understand how a 2000+ people crowd can be too much for some.

There's also many other amazing festivals this summer in Quebec. Check out Pandemonium festival (smaller scale, a more underground vibe) and Space Gathering (same thing).

Think you can find info on all of them on facebook.

Well from everything I have read/seen it seems decent and the people sound more chill than WEMF (a festival in Ontario). And I absolutely love all (well most) things trance, so this seems like the perfect festi for me.

I went to WEMF for the last 3 years it was running (there was a one year pause), this year it is in Algonquin park again (beautiful sunsets there too Very happy ) but when tickets started at 180 plus (taxes, parking etc) this year and I simply could not afford it. And with their recent primary focus on all things dub I decided it was not for me anymore.

So... I just bought tickets last night for eclipse, I am so stoked. Very happy

whoaa, just checked out the wemf site *that* looks like a crazy party! compared to wemf, eclipse IS underground. (hehe ive never heard of wemf!)

psytrance is a sub genere of a subgenera -most people dont even know what it is. for example none of the artists at eclipse will likely have 37,000,000 utube hits like skrillex-not even close!

ure in for a treatCool be sure to stop by the tranceplants booth for amazing elixirs~

Pandemonium---WOW --went last summer. this is top 2 for amazing venues for open air festivals ive been to. where else can you swim in a waterfall while dancing/listening/watching the mainstage? this is dark forest psy. this is roots, this is the journey of the turtle.

WEMF was fun ..

Definitely a crazy party.. just not for me anymore

But the crowd just changed .. And in my opinion not for the better (though Im sure those from the yearly years (it started in the 90s some time) said the same thing some years later when they started heavy with the dnb)

... looking forward to eclipse this year Smile ...

Ill definitely check out their booth .. they havent led me astray yet Wink (though i have never bought any elixirs)

i went 4 years in a row, 2004-2007, '05 and '06 were at the site you are referring to, OP, and it is a magical place i swear. I had some amazing experiences there...for example, I've taken a pretty reasonable amount of psychedelics in my day, but the only time I've ever seen a UFO was at that site of the eclipse festival. Also, the river has distinct healing properties, IMO...you must go swimming in it at least once.

Its been 5 years so I might be out of touch with the scene, but if its anything like I remember and you like trance, then you NEED to go!

I did not realize 05 and 06 were at the same site (though i did not look that far back) but 2010 was there and from the videos I watched it looks spectacular .. and with the river on site I can't wait...

got everything arranged and bought tickets a few days back.. should be a blast ..

and i will be sure to keep my eyes pealed for any unidentified flying objects and report back Wink
