After research in different teks of different materials I have made a list of some chemicals that are interresting.
The research of the Phthalates thread confirmed I want to work as clean as possible and prefere a clean produkt.

Should I really only but chemicals in glass or could I buy some of them in plastic containers, work as much as possible in glass and make sure I clean whatever produkt in the final stages to get rid of any Phthalates ?
But when I want to get rid of Phthalates my chems should be clean also. I should not do the final cleaning with chems from plastic bottles, right ?

I am wondering if in the devellopment of this forum there should be a section about chemicals
From A to Z explaining what each of them stands for (accids/solvents) and how they can be used in teks of different materials. Giving advise for dont buys (bad stuff) and overbuys (to expensive).
Or helping chemical noobs how they can improve a cheaper chem. For example how to make dry acetone.
Right now this information is scatered in different threads.

I have little knowledge of chemicals and when I pick a chemical I want to stock for future works I really get confused with all the data about a specfic chem.
Whats is the best choise ?

Right now I want to talk about:IPA & Ethanol

IPA i could get

5 liters IPA 99,9% in a plastic container for € 15.00

That would last long and is cheap and its 99.9 %.
But is the IPA already contermenated with some plastic ??

Or I could buy other labgrade IPA

2.5 liters labgrade IPA 99.9 % in glass for € 55.0

Big difference in pricing.

Ethanol confuses me even a bit more.

5 liters 98 % Ethanol denatured with britex for € 37.00
Britex is the most bitter stuff there is but will it affect the produkt ??
does it completely evap ?

500 ml 96 % Ethanol in glass for € 35.00 from a brewing site.
Whats the 4 %. water ?

5 liter 99,8 % Ethanol in plastic for € 35.00

2.5 liter 99.0 % labgrade Ethanol in glass for € 27.00
Denatured with 1 % Mek
Is it ok to have 1% MEK ?

Thanks for reading.
Looking forward to feedback.

I'm no chemist, anecdotaly though I don't see real life chemists knee deep in plastic equipment - however I do see toothless meth-makers using it all the time. Take from that what you will but what I take from it is that when do chemistry I want to use glass.

With alcohol that remaining percentage is water. I think different chemicals can be used. E.g. I was very happy I could find ether. This evaporates very cleanly. But then I learned that it also extracts much oil from the material of choice. So, I think that ether should be used to extract the last DMT from your material before you discard it finally and use the oily goo you get from it not to smoke but for changa or whatever. Ether also doesn't precipitate crystals very well, at least, in my little experience. So I use naphta now. So I think a discussion on extractions is needed. That is, in what order you can best use the chemicals available. So, for first extraction use this or that, second use this, and so on and so forth.

OK, will get my alcohols in glass bottles.

Ordering Some nice 99.5% IPA.

But for ethanol I am not shure what to choose.

96 % ethanol with 1% methanol and 3 % water or 99% with 1% mek.

Whats the best choise ?

Very rarely can you find ethanol higher than 96%. 99% ethanol will collect moisture from the air until it returns to 96%. I recommend filtering any ethanol you use before hand using activated charcoal. Do not buy anything with flavor or odor additives.

Both methanol and MEK are very volatile, you're good if you plan on evaporating/drying whatever you do with it.

But if you want ethanol for making safely consummable tinctures, then the best you can get is the 96% from the brewing shop.
