Hello Smile I recently tried to convert >1g fumarate Spice to freebase and got a bit over zealous with the sodium carbonate, I ended up with over 5g of material which clearly isn't right, what would the best method of cleaning these crystals up? They are big, clear shards that look lovely, but clearly have far too much base attached to the molecules. Do I just redissolve in (warm?) Naptha / IPA or would some other measures need to be employed?

Any / all advice much appreciated!

Cheers, P x

holy smokes, you got 500% yields of smack!
post the tek, bro!

dissolve in dilute acid, and redo the basification.
you're supposed to keep the nonpolar phase, of course

I just dissolved it in a 60:40 water : vinegar solution. Would sodium carbonate do to basify, or is NaOH in order?

Imagine if i had stumbled across a way to quintuple yields! That would be outstanding Twisted Evil Unfortunately this is not the case as when those big crystals are heated they leave a residue after vaporising.

I realize this is all very late, and prolly too late at that, but I would start to basify with NaOH (0.1-0.2 mol/l) to pH 6, then switch to carbonate. Reason: carbonate will bubble excessively at low pH. Hope this helps!

There have been similar posts on the forum about this same thing. Check out the end of this thread started with my post.

Basically just filter it with water. The sodium carb is highly soluble in water and DMT freebase is not. The sodium carb probably was over saturated and formed crystals itself.
