I made "the copper disk" out of some chore boy but have one question after trying it.

Is there a sweet spot as far as how densely/loosly it's formed?

I think I may have smashed too much together. It melts on very nicely, but seems like the air may be going around it rather than through.

You want it not so loose that the melted spice drops through and not so dense that it runs around the sides. You want it a few mm thick, with minimal contact to the sides of the chamber.

Here are gibran2's invaluable gudance pics I just nicked from another thread:

I just roll a small amount of scrubber in my hands like making a ball of blu-tac, and then squish to the desired thickness.

Hope that helps!

I guess I can ask something about theses mesh here ?

Is it better to use a copper disk on the top of changa to protec it from the direct flame or is completely unnecessary ?

I have a this pipe and I don't want to invest in a gvg yet..I use 50mg of spice and I've the impression I'd use less with some improvement of my smoking device. A jet lighter would probably be a good investment..

I'm sure some mesh on top would help it vaporise better, but haven't tried that approach myslef. Also for Changa I find a bong works best (after the GVG of course Wink ) as you can get big lungfulls of relatively cool smoke Shocked

With such pipe you might add too much temperature with a jet lighter. You can see if you can build the machine if you want to save money as it has been proven to work well.

When it comes to the mesh size, the gibran2's pic is great. Just don't pack it too tight or too loose.Wink
