I was wondering if anyone know's the temp. setting that swim should set his dig. hoplate, to help speed up the evap process. He is working w/ about 50ml of naptha in a pyrex shotglass.

He's been moving the solution from fridge to freezer and will pull oout the biggest crystal to seed the precips when it goes back in the freezer, so he can get a big crystal.

He is just trying to speed up the evap procees so he is working with less volume and more saturated solvent.

i dont want swim to over heat the solvent and lose yield.

Get it up to a light boil (not to violent). The exact number depends on the plate, the number that it says doesn't mean that that is the temp of the solution in the beaker. Slowly increase the temp while keeping an eye on it. Placing a fan to blow away the vapor phase will greatly enhance evaporation.

I wouldn't recommend evaporating with a hotplate. Heating a solution of DMT in naphtha seems to produce DMT-N-oxide if it's done in the presence of oxygen. If you're determined to do it, I'd recommend doing it in a container to which you can affix an airlock (like those used in winemaking, so the gasses can escape without letting in foreign contaminants), so the naphtha vapors displace the air.

Yeah, he's right. Lots of DMT N-Oxide will definitely form when using heat, and especially in combination with a fan. However, SWIM likes DMT N-Oxide more than DMT, so it’s not necessarily a bad thing.
You may remember me as 69Ron. I was suspended years ago for selling bunk products under false pretenses. I try to sneak back from time to time under different names, but unfortunately, the moderators of the DMT-Nexus are infinitely smarter than I am.

SWIM tries to maintain a steady 45c when in need of a quick evap, but finds the best results to come from good old patience. It seems that every extraction he does takes longer and longer, as a result the spice gets cleaner and much easier to handle.

In any case, please make sure to use a thermometer, please do nit rely on the reading the hotplate gives you.

I would personally stir away from hotplates, the one I use at work give you a minimum of 50 C in the lowest setting.
