Hello Nexus,
I'm a very early stage explorer and have been humbled and enticed so far with some adolescent experiences with LSD, semi-regular use of THC, and more recently Salvia Divinorum and straight up meditation/mindfulness practice. I am a psychologist in private practice and am regularly amazed that I earn my living through loving, understanding and teaching self compassion.

I am interested in the evolution of the brain (my dissertation was in neuroanatomy and compared turtles to mammals). I have been pleasantly transfixed by the idea of the evolution of consciousness. More recently, I've been working to help myself and others "plug in" to the energy available through "tuning in to the moment" via regular mental exercise of lovingly redirecting the attention to a centering physical sensation (often the breath). I have a history of mild social anxiety and it still is occasionally activated, for example when I go on and on about mindfulness to those who are only politely listening.

I am excited to see this site and am encouraged by the accepting and loving approach I've sensed in the posts. I'm looking forward to reading more and learning more, especially as I prepare for my first DMT experience. I am open to interaction and am hoping to connect with fellow travelers as I continue this amazing experience.

Thanks for reading...

Chris

Welcome to the Nexus!

It's interesting to hear the perspective of the different people that arrive here in the Nexus, and how their own path of self-development has unfolded so far. I am sure you will find the support you need here to further that development, and that you'll also be able to contribute with your own particular approach to things.

Are you already in the process or planning to extract? Or are you considering oral use for the first time? Did you take any other psychedelic or have other non-sober mind altering experiences so far?

What kind of setting are you considering for the first time?

Thanks Endlessness for you kind welcome and encouragement. It's very kind of you to share your thoughts with many of those making new introductions.

I am still considering possibilities for my first DMT experience but was intrigued by the description of Aya in the movie DMT: The Spirit Molecule. My experiments with Salvia D were life transformative but rather harsh, so the idea of a softer start and landing is appealing. Salvia was like strapping on an antenna and getting gobs of data that I was unable to sort, even at a rudimentary level. From what I've read so far, DMT often allows for some perception of form, content and connectedness.

I am actively considering whether I'm a good candidate for exploring the hyperspace but so far, the answer seems to be a yes. I've tried LSD, lucid dream occasionally, and generally like the idea of experiencing the other dimensions. Further, there is a intuitive sense of being led to the experience.

Thanks again for your comments and questions, the writing of this has been helpful. If you have suggestions base on your read of me, they would be very much appreciated.

Oops forgot about your question about setting: I am not as of yet feeling led to a particular spot. I do love nature and would love to lean against a big tree. Are you really in the jungle? That sounds about right, especially if you have the guidance of those with a culture that has been informed by their DMT use over generations.
