My apologies if the following has either been answered elsewhere, or is just plain dumb.

I have this idea to get all the alkaloids from mimosa without the use of solvents other than water. Basically just boil up some bark in lightly acidified water, then filter thouroughly.
Then basify the solution so all alkaloids precipitate out. Then filter keeping the solids and discarding the liquid.

Presumably the solid/goo alkaloid mix would then dissolve in ethanol for further processing?

Even if this is a bad idea, I welcome the chance to learn why.

It has been tried and doesnt seem like anybody but the originator (Wanderer) has actually had success. Check out our eco-friendly extraction teks subforum ( https://www.dmt-nexus.me...t.aspx?g=topics&f=61 ), there's a couple of threads there about the water-only tek.

If you are willing to use ethanol, maybe check out this experiment I was trying:

Thank you for your guidance endlessness.

Had a read of all the links you posted. I was under the impression that for any aqueous solution containing alkaloids, that basifying the solution would cause alkaloid solids to precipitate out, and have found that not to be the case. They can come out in liquid form, for example. And perhaps not drop out at all.

I might go the d-limonene route instead as what I really want is full spectrum alkaloid extraction with a view to making plant themed changa. Or another solvent that can get everything.

Ethanol isn't available to me so I have to make my own in small quantities, so not really an option as an extraction solvent for me. I figured I had to have a little for dissolving alkaloids and harmalas simultaneously, as I know of no other way to do this.

Its all solving mysteries in search of the ultimate mystery Embarrased

limonene will work fine, BLAB has a lot of things written about it, or the Q21Q21 or amorfati teks...

There is not much research about using vegetable oils, I think that would be a nice venue to explore. I tried dissolving some freebase dmt in olive oil and sunflower oil and it seemed to be not soluble or very little, at room temperature. Its possible that if its warmed up more dmt will dissolve, I didnt test.

There has been some talk of putting on a stove a solution of sodium carb mimosa solution with a bit of water and keep mixing with some cooking oil, and then separate the cooking oil and salt it out. Thats another option to think about.

Anyways thanks for thinking along and trying to explore new methods, adapting to your situation Smile
