If we can get a list of those 3 schools I am sure that we could contact them and put forth this claim to them and see how they respond..

Thanks for the feedback and it looks like many didn't realize that was about 10 seconds of 6 er more songs, with a piece from one of the skits cutting up the tracks. I appreciate all the positivity that was thrown out in my defense and with all music it isn't always for everybody. We call it psychedelic hip hop not because you should listen to it when your tripping, but because the lyrics have come out of trips and we really want to squeegee clean the third eye of people who have never used theirs. What I mean is we try to provoke thought and think a little different than the norm. Here is a full song we just released as a single, please give this a go. One thing about the video we did this way because right now we (the artist) live in separate states and Sully doesn't have the technology to shoot his part of a vid and send it over, but anyway here ya go

Needs more melody. Too BAM BAM BAMMM heavy sounding.

Like the lyrics are cool but the actual musical sounds needs work. I would not listen to this lol and I have an open mind to ALOT of music.

I've visited the forum many times in the past for DMT information, but recently made an account. The reason being for finding like minded to people to share my music with. From past entheogen experiences me and a friend whom I've never met, we stay in contact via internet are releasing an album titled DeMons Tea that will be available in April. The songs are all inspired by our experiences with psychedelics. Below I posted a video that contains a few samples of the songs. We sample Bill Hicks, Terence McKenna, John Allegro and many others who were involved with this culture we've all created. Enjoy!

In my opinion this can't be called music...

Why even share with him that you don't consider this "music"? If you don't like hiphop, what kind of constructive criticism other than "this isn't music" can you offer? Claiming that you went to three music schools that didn't consider hiphop as music is discrediting a genre of music that's existed for forty some odd years, really? You should take a step back and read your posts in this thread, and grasp for the true meaning behind some of the words you've chosen because you have spoken like an individual with a true ego inflation complex.
“The most compelling insight of that day was that this awesome recall had been brought about by a fraction of a gram of a white solid, but that in no way whatsoever could it be argued that these memories had been contained within the white solid. Everything I had recognized came from the depths of my memory and my psyche. I understood that our entire universe is contained in the mind and the spirit. We may choose not to find access to it, we may even deny its existence, but it is indeed there inside us, and there are chemicals that can catalyze its availability.”

I'll check back later - my Flash Player has crashed for the moment. As to the "hiphop is music" question, I think hip-hop is more like rhythmically accentuated poetry expressed over beats. Rhythm-and-poetry. Whereas music has, in addition to rhythm and poetry, harmony and melody. So in some rap/hip-hop there are musical moments; maybe this is being nit-picky and I'm sure there are other interpretations of music that would include hip-hop. Still, it is/can be a beautiful artform of its own.

I wanted to share this design I came up with. After looking around for some DMT related shirts all I could find were obvious ones, such as the chemical structure with the letters DMT attached. So to be less obvious I created my own, by doing so I don't advertise what I'm about to the masses, but those who know can see the message through the fog.

Also I want to say the community here is amazing, my first post had a mix of negative and positive comments. I accept em all for what they are for personal growth. Thank you all for the interaction and conversation!

Under your definition I assume things like industrial hardcore, breakcore, glitch and other styles of electronica would also not be classed as music since they are often devoid of harmony and melody?

I guess it's just a matter of what word you want to use to describe something. I would consider anything rhythmic as music, although I can see that "music" is something that can be very hard to define. As you say though, regardless of what label you want to attach to these things they are still a valid art form.

I enjoy all kinds of music ranging from 60's stuff, punk, classical, some hip-hop/rap, dubstep (love dubstep), techno, weird glitchy idm stuff... the options of things to listen to are limitless really and for people to decide that certain things that don't fit their criteria are not really "music" just seems silly. I've had debates with an older relative of mine where he was claiming things I was listening to were not music because he couldn't understand the words... I tried to explain that the words were irrelevant and that often they weren't even lyrics they were just chopped up and manipulated vocal samples.

I'm not sure how people decide on these arbitrary rules, lol. To each their own I guess.
