How does one go about finding a suitable solution to this massive task? Of course, this is for each person to determine, but I would be curious to hear your opinions and methods for living a society in which every single person, at least in my immediate surroundings, wants nothing more than to get as drunk as possible and inflate their egos through sexual conquest and social positioning. Is there a way to escape these things? I'm currently in Korea at the moment, trying to engage in a meditation practice and delving deeper into my own truth, and I really just want to find some people to hang out with that actually honor and understand the meaning that life can really reveal when lived in (increasing) truth. Granted, I am in college and living in an international dorm, so I don't really know what I expected. Is it so strange for a 23 year old to actually care about things like life and truth and meaning? People look at me like I'm some sort of alien, and then continue gossiping. I feel like having made the choice to start observing my ego state is something that cannot be taken back, nor would I want to, but g'damn, trying to maintain a living truth in such an ego driven surrounding is truly a test. How do you folks out there go about deepening your connection to being while maintaining normalcy in the "outside" world? The fact that Korea is possibly the most conditioned, materialistic society on the planet doesn't help either I suppose...
