How did you discover dmt?

I had heard it mentioned years ago on a documentary about south american natives brewing ayahuasca but never really thought much about it as i didn't think i would ever come into contact with such exotic materials.

Fast forward a few years and i was in a friends admiring some lemon skunk he had and he happened to mention salvia. I had never heard of it and it intrigued me.
I got home and started trying to find as much info as possible on this salvia.

In just about every thread i was reading people were comparing it to dmt but they were all saying that dmt was the best.

So that was where my interest in dmt really started. I read a few things before discovering the nexus Smile and well the rest is history.

If anyone would like to share how they first heard about dmt then please do, thanks Smile

For me, it was a disenfranchised student looking for a teacher. I had stopped drinking alcohol for five months--I never had a problem but was just making lifestyle choices--and really found no joy in marijuana either. I was exploring binaural beats, had looked into some supplements for lucid dreaming, and had the opportunity to try MDMA for the first time several months ago. I always wanted more out of those substances, but I realized they had nothing more to offer.

I had not ever really given hallucinogens their due, and one night rekindling the flame with some old friends, DMT came up in conversation. One was expressing an interest to try mescaline and another to grow mushroom or grow marijuana sativa, but we knew very little of DMT. My one friend had an ounce of mimosa root bark powder, but that was as far as the conversation progressed. My friends are my friends, but they don't often get further than the planning stage of any operation. I was and am in a unique situation that offers me a lot of privacy and anonymity as well as free time, so I started researching DMT every waking hour of the next week. I got everything together and consumed as much knowledge as I could, and the rest for me is history.

Why DMT? Probably the Nexus. This community impressed me beyond any on the internet I have every been a part of or at least observed, and DMT seems to leave its unique signature on all those who have experience. I not one to seek to pleasure, but rather I always seek to gain something or achieve some sort of insight through my actions. DMT first entered my consciousness by the slip of another's tongue, but I truly believe that my taste in music is what led me to the spirit molecule. The music of Deadmau5 has really been the soundtrack to the last three years of my life, and the sort of emotions it inspires in me are quite powerful indeed. It's been my staple and my crutch through good times and bad, and I get something of a fix from his music like an addict from his/her drug of choice. It has redefined the human experience in my eyes, and without it I don't think that I would be the same person or see things the same way I do today. I highly recommend any and or all of his music. Some of it is mediocre, some generic, and all of it is less than perfect. But some songs are epic and absolute masterpieces and will evoke very powerful emotions if you just let yourself go...not unlike smoking DMT.

I had known of DMT since I found out about erowid in high school. I had a fascination with these wonderful substances I read of, having only tried pot I read as much as I could find about mushrooms and finally came across some...I knew from that day that I would explore these realms and that I had come across something magnificent.

About a year later I started getting interested in other things so I ordered some salvia and some yopo seeds online and started experimenting. My friend and I tried smoking the seeds to no avail, we even tried a crude extract that yielded some orange crystalline goop that we could never get any effects from other than feeling really heavy. We gave up on the seeds and used a lot of salvia during that time. A few years passed and I experimented with lots of mushrooms, acid, and MDMA as well as a few other things. I had been doing lots of research though and had mescaline and DMT on my wish list.

I never really had my calling to DMT until about a year and a half ago when I came across some mp3 files of Terrence Mckenna.
I listened to a bunch of his recordings and decided I needed to see what this stuff was really all about, salvia had blown my mind and I was interested to try something that rivaled it. I inevitably stumbled across the Nexus and the rest is history.

Probably a pretty typical introduction through the word of Mckenna but I was pretty much a lone pioneer in this venture coming from a town that universally calls any mind altering substance "dope" Pleased

First time I heard about DMT, along with other psychedelics, was about fifteen years ago. The first source was Antonio Escohotado, a spanish philosopher whose General History of Drugs took me to a proper understanding of mind altering substances. Then I found specific and botanical information in Ott's Pharmacotheon, and online in the Lycaeum and Erowid.

I managed to get Syrian Rue, Anadenanthera seeds, salvia leaf and others. But right when I was starting to explore, I met a girl. When she found out about my interests, she freaked. And I decided to let it go. I got rid of plants, seeds and books. Almost a decade later, two years ago, we got divorced in what I've come to call the chronicle of an announced death. And last year, I took books, plants and seeds back. Then I found the Nexus, and a new mate who also is the travel companion I longed for.

Last month, I finished my first successful extraction thanks to the Nexus. So I'm slowly finding what I maybe should have found over a decade ago. Now, finally, it has become part of my life.

Very curious as a child and tore apart my toys to see how they functioned inside. Later on interested in mystical stuff, sooo interesting!

Became a big fan of mythology and human history and eventually came across the work of Terrence McKenna. I checked DMT on wikipedia and read more and more.. At that time i had already tried mushrooms so i had no problem accepting the facts and that the described effects were in fact accurate. So i though "This is it. This is what I'm looking for". When time allowed me, i taught myself the extraction and executed it. Tried it and BAM! Very happy

I think also a natural to dose psychedelic, from canabis to mushrooms, then defenitely salvia divinorum got me open full for hyperspace.
After reading a lot about ayahuasca and iboga I've start to grow more fascination anf waited to travel down south america to meet ayahuasca/dmt spirits...

I never did and ended up here !
Overall I found this very uplifting and positive as a place to learn, share and expand those fantastics molecules Pleased

The first time i found out about it was when i wanted to know what was being smoked in the light bulb on "Fear & Loathing" i found out it was meant to be DMT but didnt research any further.

Then, several years later, it arrived in a card from the other side of the world, shortly followed by a friend who showed me the way. Ive never looked back.

Id came across the ayahuasca forums after being interested in the healing properties and id read a report it could show you how reality is made, my first few brews didnt work that well, sort of tripping but nothing to write home about, Im actually glad those brews didnt work properly as I could have been in for a big shock, got talking to a local guy from the aya forums who brought some dmt up my flat. I knew nothing of it and had only heard of mckenna and the elves but thought nothing of it, so I said you going to let me try this thinking nothing of it, looking back I could see his apprehension but he held the lighter and I hit it perfectly, seen loads of geometric patterns and a glimpse it seemed to another world I then started crying uncontrollably it was amazing though scary, after that I learned how to extract by this friend who is now one of my best mates and Im going to live in a foreign country with him, funny how things work out!

I found out about it on erowid.org about a decade ago. Hadn't heard of it and no one told me about it, was just browsing different drugs and reading trip reports... as soon as I read about the effects of DMT I was fascinated, but it always seemed like something I wouldn't be able to get. The extraction teks seemed unmanageable for me at the time. DMT was the holy grail for me right from reading about it til finally extracting it a decade later.

A friend of mine told me about it. I was bewildered and skeptical about what he was telling me. He had never tried it, he had found out about it, and told me about it.

I decided to do some research on this substance he was telling me about. I was heavily into pills, pot and coke, but I had stopped all that. Shrooms were still a friend of mine though. I wondered how I had not heard of DMT before, given my history.

I discovered Erowid, and Terrence Mckenna and I started reading trip reports etc; and was learning more about this fascinating substance. My outlook on life was changing, so were my reasons for using substances.

Eventually this road led to the Nexus. This place has taught me more about DMT and extraction than any other place. If it wasn't for this place, I would probably still never have extracted.

I found DMT during a massive transitional period in my life, a period of enormous change. My life was changing, and I was changing with it, for the better, and I still am. Though I'm pretty sure I didn't find DMT, it found me.

Peace

After my first eye opening mushroom trip, I was researching a short film many years ago I was to write and direct; the story was that 2 characters (D & his love interest MT Shocked ) lived in a futuristic underground post-apocalyptic society in which the trafficking of information, in any form, was strictly forbidden by a totalitarian government that controlled all "INFO" and "INTEL". Meanwhile, a covert society, "the INFORMATION CULT", were cultivating and planting human specimens (called donors) in the population - people who through years of genetic engineering produced massive amounts of dimethyltryptamine in their pineal glands (this was 1991 remember!Wink ). At a given age, the information cult would send out mutations (failed specimens) to capture the "donors" and extract, or harvest, the DMT from the gland and administer to ancient decrepit women (Black Widows) who were wired into the infrastructure of the underground cities; these women would use the drug to "travel" through time and history, acting as repositories for all of human culture and history in a society that was determined to regulate this information out of existence. The women were, in fact, a sort of INTERNET, 10 years before 99% of the population had even heard the word!

The film was called "D,MT & the Black Widow" and was finished in late 1991.

That, strangely enough, is how I learned about DMT. I did not actually try it until 18 years later! (researching different strains of mushrooms led me to Erowid, where i found QT's old extraction tek that I performed once before finding the nexus and better more recent teks)

Cheers,

I first learned about it from alt.drugs newsgroups, while researching psilocybes around 20 years ago. The Gracie and Zarkov writings got me interested, along with McKenna. But it wasn't until I joined here that I started to seriously pursue it, although I have been lurking here ever since the site started.

I first heard about dmt 10-12 years ago from a friends girlfriend who explained it too me and showed me some trip reports that really sparked my intrest. I had no interent at the time so i couldn't do my own research. Shortly after my friends gf, and my friend too, passed away and i forgot about dmt until 4-5 years ago. I was at an afterparty playing spades and smoking bud with 3 dudes i didn't know. This one guy took a good hit and 2 guys started messing with him say fucked up things to him and i was like wtf?? and they told me they packed the bud with dmt and he couldn't hear them anyways. needless to say, i passed on grass the rest of that night...then about 2 years ago or so i was at a festival and met mr. and mrs. ice house....the rest is history.

While writing this it seems that dmt has been trying to find me for quite a while now.

I learned about dmt 6 years ago when I was 16 on erowid.org.

Erowid was one of my favorite sites to browse during the time (and still is to some extent), and I happened to stumble across aya and dmt. Reading the amazing life changing experience reports, I knew I had to try this stuff!

I have always been a do-it-yourself type of person who hates relying on others for products or services. I hated drug dealers for their dishonesty and unreliability so I started making spice (the first of many things). The first batch was so bad! Yellow gunky crystals I wouldnt even consider smoking today haha.

Ever since then spice has periodically been a constant part of my life and has shaped who I am today. Smile

I heard about DMT while having an interest in entheogenic cactus. My interest came from a plant chemistry course I was doing at university. I remember coming across a link outlining how to extract mescaline from cactus and thinking it didn't sound too hard. The first I heard of DMT was in reference to Ayahuaca on the plant forums I was researching my cactus but I continued to ignore her for a while until I had fully explored the cactus knowledge. I then moved onto researching Ayahuasca and immediately went on the search for potential wild havestable sources. Given my geographic location none of the obscure plant references or related possibilities resulted in much and I gave up after about 6 attempts. Gave up hunting and started growing. I decided my best bet at obtaining the knowledge DMT had to offer was to follow the traditional tried and true method and purchase some Ayahuasca source plants.

My tropical location proved ideal for growing the Banisteriopsis caapi and Psychotria viridis used to brew the Ayahuasca brew. I started looking into how to brew but found very little information on using fresh material. All I could find was that fresh materials were potentially much stronger then dried and stored purchased materials so I decided to undertake further inquiry into the strength of my chacruna leaf material. I had came across a reference on the plant forums of someone extracting white crystals from chacruna leaf so I knew it was possible to determine a yeild. There had also recently been a thread on my home forum stating that the DMT nexus had start a fresh new forum and that they were looking for members to help build the community and further the DMT knowledge. This is where I found reference to the lex tek when it was fresh off the print and heard that it theoretically should be ideal to extract from leaf material.

Well I found my yeild and its potential and went on to develop my own Ayahuasca brews from both discovered and searched out knowledge. I must admit I have taken a lot more from the nexus then I have contributed but that is because I have only seen the need to add to the vast detailed knowledge found here on very few occasions. Given my unique location and through necessity self reliance on growing materials I have found that a lot of what I have learnt doesn't relate to the majority of other dmt explores and so as a result only share knowledge when I see it has relevance to others. There is no point talking to myself as I already know what I have learnt. Sorry to sound like an elitist but we are talking DMT here not Coca Cola.

Anyway, thanks to everyone here for keeping the standard of information so high and helping me on my journey. It is much appreciated.
From where is the noise?
