in diff parts of your body? ever since I started to have astral projection experiences, i have been feeling prods and jerks in my body in particular place but all over at random times.

for example, a tiny part of 1 inch square would jerk over and over. it's as if something isidie of it tried to get out or became alive. like a part of my consciousness have woken up and I couldn't control its jerks.

anyone else with these experiences? it's really interesting because i havent had them before.

Graham Hancock goes into this in some detail in his book Supernatural. I'd definitely recommend reading it. otherwise, i'll have a flick through and try to find the excerpt and then write it out on here for you. it seems quite a common part of the OBE and is well documented in indigeonous shamanistic practice..

On the surface of your description, it sounds like muscle spasm. Perhaps neuro-electrical activity runs rampant during OBEs possibly initiating this spasm? Where do you notice the specific jerk on your body? Is it around the chakras? If so, perhaps it indicates a blockage.

bricklaya, thanks i was actually thinking of reading that book someday.

Global, there is always a western way of describing spiritual experiences. but these are not muscle spasms i assure you. jerks are all over arms and legs. they have nothing to do with chakra points. i also read of people who would start having OBEs and then have these jerks and prods.

During an out-of-body experience you feel this? If so, how can you call it an out-of-body experience? In the OBEs I’ve had, there is no bodily sensation whatsoever, since there is no body.

thats an interesting point you raised gibran..
hmm i'm not sure hey.. i would assume one could still feel pain in these sorts of experiences though. got me thinking though.. what does really constitute an OBE?

In most of my deep breakthroughs, there is absolutely no awareness of my body. There are no pains, there are no bodily sensations of any sort. There are no eyes to open. There is no mouth to speak.

During such experiences, there is sometimes awareness that I’m without my body, and I begin to wonder if “it” is doing OK. I usually trust that it is taking care of itself – breathing, etc. automatically on its own without “me” present.

Most often my OBE's are only partial. I'm both out of my body, yet I can shift my awareness to feel my back against the chair or whatnot. Perhaps this is somewhat along the lines of what the OP experiences and thus allows him to perceive bodily sensations. In regards to pain, I have irritable bowel syndrome so I'm often in pain to the extent where it's often pointless to wait for a time with no pain (doesn't come around too often), but I've come to learn that even terrible cramps vanish with the blink of an eye as the DMT takes hold.

"I have been feeling prods and jerks in my body in particular place but all over at random times."

You are not out of the body yet that is why. Durring OBE's/lucid dreams/whatever without visionary medicines I only get those jerks when leaving the body like when sleep paralysis sets in or when I come back to the body. If in a lucid dream for instance I move in some way and my physical body corresponds it will be in the form of a jerk and I will wake up.

With DMT and ayahausca..I know that yesterday I left my body a few times it seemed. My body was so heavy and vibrating..when I closed my eyes I would first see these normal DMT patterns..excpept the would vibrate back and forth, and then begin to change formation and swirl around in a circular pattern like a vortex. At this point I was still aware of my body..but then it would be like I would phase out and turn into light and get sucked into the vortex and get this great sense of acceleration. The visuals were not like a normal DMT trip at all at this point..it was more like flying through a sea of molecules. I cant even explain this at all but I was not connected to the body on a conscious level while in that place. I would snap out of it every so often and find myself back in my body but the world would be swirling around it in that same vortex shape for about 10 seconds and then return back to just insane buzzing energy and fractals and stuff more associated with psychedelic visuals/visions..Then I would panic a bit try to move around and not be able to and lay back down and go back to being disembodied.

With vaped DMT I have been disembodied lots of times too but it is different sort of because I cant remember it as well as I can the ayahausca..with the ayahuasca I can clearly remember being in that place and thinking about my body but not feeling in it. Salvia has taken me right out of my body as well and I have been able to look back through a portal at my body as an empty vessel in this reality waiting for my soul to return.

Maybe the body can jerk around though while having whatever an OBE really is. I guess the nerves can still fire randomly etc..
Long live the unwoke.

no. these jerks happen throughout the day at no specific times when i am sitting down or laying down or about to fall asleep. they dont occur all the time, but some days they are there and others they are absent. i havent had them for a few days. when i am projecting i have no sense of my body unless i think about it or get sucked back into it.
