Hello, a friend of mine has just come off a long opioid addiction, he is a bit over 2 weeks clean from them now, with physical distress gone but some lingering mental issues like depression. Just 2 days ago in addition, him and his gf of 2 years broke up. He knows its for the best though, they have had problems a long time. it is quite sad for him though.

He is wondering if it is ok to do some spice despite his depression. He is hoping to get a new perspective, outlook and or just enjoy the crazy ride, experience things beyond our understanding. He does have a pretty chaotic life; job and college, so no time for a long introspective acid trip or MAOI+spice.

Will the problems be left behind as he blasts off? He has only tried a threshold dose a while back, he liked it and thought it lowered his depression temporarily.

I bet if he did a breakthrough dose he would have a good ol' ego death trip. which can be scary but awesome at the same time. Maybe not though.

A psychedelic trip can be one of the most psychologically rewarding experiences you'll ever have. Being in a depressed mindset typically isn't a good place to be when preparing for a journey, however I've found that even some of the worst psychedelic experiences can lead to the most beneficial, eye opening realizations. Some times it just works like that- the worse the trip is, the more beneficial it can become. If you're in a really bad state of mind the psychedelic might just wake you up to the causes of your depression, allowing you to see what changes you need to make in your life. I truly believe in the healing power of psychedelics, and while they are most blissful when you're in a good mental place, their true healing potential isn't revealed to you until you're in a place where you need to be healed. It's simply a risk you and only you can chose to take, and it may just be the most rewarding risk you've ever taken.

It depends what he is looking for. If he wants to confront his problems head on then go for it. If he is looking for an escape or a good time maybe wait a little while.

I wouldn't expect to see happiness and flowers, but...

I took ayahuasca after dealing with an opiate addiction, and watching my best friend die two feet away from me. The journey tore me inside and out in so many ways. It scared me absolutely shitless to see, and feel what it brought to me. But within that some of the most beautiful things in life came through. I was able to overcome what had happened to me in my life because of what it had shown me. I was suicidal for a long time as well. I almost owe my life to the spice because I might not have stayed alive if I didn't take that journey.

I think irregardless, a bad trip or not. If you feel dedicated enough to want to change you life, and move foward, the spice will help you.
So glad to see you have overcome them.
Completely silent now
With heaven's help
You cast your demons out

what is the chance of a physical flip-out? like running around his apartment mad or getting unwanted attention? is the tendency for DMT smokers to just crash as their head explodes or do some move about? From what i've read it seems most just lay back even if it gets bad, right?

My friend has jumped well over 800 times now. He has been very interested to explore hyperspace under very differant conditions, trying to work out what works best for him. Because of this he has deliberatley sought out and fearlessly experiamented with all manner of condition. Whether those conditions are defined by the combination of other mind altering substances and multiple subtances or differing mental states, he has tried it. He has, in search of knowledge, jumped under the very most trying of times. He has jumped under times of immence grief with tears running down his cheeks. He has jumped when in the midst of very bleak deppresive episodes where suicide was a constant thought in the back of his head. He has done it purley to know what would happen so that one day he might share that knowledge when people ask.

When under great mental stress, DMT offers very little relief. The visions no matter how fantastic, do not relieve the mental stress. DMT is essentially a unique, personel and solitary affair. It is not something where you can share the same experiance with another. It is a place you enter as an individual. If you are feeling lost and lonley with the fresh pain fron a relationship break up, DMT will do nothing to positive to relieve your pain. In fact it is more likely to help reinforce that lonleyness. My friend has been their and knows there is no meaningfull solace to be found in DMT from that kind of emmotional pain. DMT is indifferant to you personal needs.

Prolonged pyhsical excertation is by far the greatest help under those conditions.

Well said Magic Clown !

From personal experience the day after a serious spice session is often worse if you are in bad mental state, like if the few life energy still remaining would be suck off. I'm sure that alhtought a DMT experiece can be very rewarding, it is also quite demanding in energy. So a depressed state is not the best moment... Better go for a walk in nature or visiting friends or making sport Rolling eyes

In general, I would have to agree. DMT is indifferent. However, ones own mind is not. The ability of the Spice to help expand or enlighten the mind, or "spirit" if you will, does tend to sway in a particular direction. Even, and sometimes especially, if a person takes DMT with the mind set, thought, and intention of entering the tryp in search for answers or healing then it will be found in the mind or spirit.

This is not to say that the initial experience will not be horrifying. In fact, I can say from experience that in a similar situation I experienced absolute hell. Nonetheless, it was still a life altering experience for the better.

Also, I would like to add that DMT alone, is not as affective at helping w/ spiritual aisles. Huasca is much much better for that, Keep in mind, this is because there is more than just DMT in it. It is believed by some South American tribes that we are all spiritual beings and as we travel through the world our spirit comes in contact w/ other spirits. Some of those other spirits, they believe, are negative spirits that will latch onto your spirit like a tick or worms and drain the energy from your spirit. They also believe that these negative spirits are ultimately the cause for many problems including mental illnesses such as depression, OCD, and even schizophrenia. They also believe that the drain on your spirit will eventually affect your physical health as well, weakening your immune system, making you get sick more often, develop allergies and many others.

Of course they also believe in the spirits of the plants. So, they believe that the spirits in the plants will cleanse your spirit and body. It is actually much akin to an exorcism. The idea is that you must first expel the toxins in your body. So they often consider the vomiting stage as important as any other. The next thing that occurs is the spirits in the plants detach negative spirits and push them to the surface. When these negative spirits are pushed to the surface you are forced to face the pain that they have caused. This is often an unpleasant experience. Only after ridding your spirit of all of those negative spirit leeches can you then touch the divine and experience the purity of heaven.

Although I may not agree with it in a literal sense, I do believe it tends to hold true for the most part on a psychological and even spiritual level. I can tell you this much. I was diagnosed with both schizophrenia and chronic depression. Additionally, as long as I do my huasca at least once every three months I have minimal to no problems with either. If I do it at least once a month, I don't have any problems with it. I like to do it one to three times a week but haven't been able to in a very long time.

I might also note, that I do tend to do mega doses as well so that might have some to do with it. Generally, I will make a harmaloid freebase along w/ the DMT freebase. Nowadays, I'll smoke about 100mg of harmaloid freebase about 20 minutes prior and I'll pre-mix 600-800mg of DMT with 200-400mg of harmaloid freebase and smoke it till I can't light the lighter then as soon as I can light the lighter again, I continue smoking again. I do that until it is gone. I have done as much as 3 grams of DMT mixed with a similar amount of harmaloid but I have found it to be a waste after 600-800mg. You don't get any further and eventually it just stops suddenly.

I think your question can't be answered my another mind than your own. We are all different and DMT works and feels different to all of us.
That's also why some people love it but others fear it more than anything.

I mean, who really believes there is such a place as Hyperspace!!
