What do YOU think?

Can DMT make you smarter?
With the life changing events,
Plus entities showing you things,
And telling you things?

Let's hear what you have to say.

I think the human being has the potential to be in a constant state of learning.

DMT can be a wonderful learning experience, if you are observant, and don't cling to false beliefs.

I believe it can make one WISER. IMHO any psychedelic can accomplish this goal as it gives one the first hand experience of a different state of mind and thus a alternate perspective. Furthermore if one looks deeply into the experience it allows one to see truth about ones persona flaws and all which we tend to be most adept at hiding from ourselves. As far as Increasing IQ there are such practices that allow a less restricted cognitive flow from the subconscious mind to the conscious.

You might learn things from it.
You might find you enjoy learning things and continue to do so outside of the trip.

You might find new ways of learning you haven't before.
But smarter... I dunno.

There are some things.

I don't think it can. It will not increase your IQ.

There's more to intelligence than IQ. IQ tests are about a particular kind of intelligence, but someones IQ level does not entirely define how intelligent they are. It is possible to be highly intelligent in other areas, such as emotional intelligence, which are not factored into IQ. I've never sat an IQ test, but I have looked at one and as far as I can see it is a test for someones ability to solve rational problems, puzzles, ability to see sequences and things like that.

Well, that is what IQ measures. Yes there is EQ too. But when someone talks about being 'smart' I assume they mean intelligent. If it wasn't meant that way one could think of 'street wise'.

In either case, you work with what you have. Some people are into what I think is referred to as 'nootropics'? That is, ingest chemicals to make your brain work more efficiently. Maybe DMT could be one But who would know? It is never been tested. I don't know if the idea of nootropics actually works.

But if 'smarter' means your perception of reality changes, that you gain insights you wuld never have found without the spice, that you become informed about things as a result of your experiences with it, in that way you would be smarter; not IQ-wise, maybe EQ-wise, but just better informed.

Wasn't there a film recently about someone getting a pill and getting supersmart? I haven't see it. Remind me of the name if you know what I mean..?

DMT is a door of inner knowledge. YOU must make the move to walk through it, DMT won't push you to learn from it.
This of course is just my own opinion Razz

DMT can awaken an insatiable hunger for knowledge that may have been previously dormant. As a catalyst for pursuing this knowledge, one may come across information that could potentially improve not just what is known, but the way of looking at a world and analyzing a situation. As such, perhaps this could raise IQ scores, although as others have said, IQ tests aren't necessarily the most accurate method of assessing intelligence. For example, if DMT spurs someone to get into sacred geometry, and they begin studying it for several months, after focusing on geometric patterns for so long, perhaps the questions that deal with geometry and spacial reasoning would become more clear. DMT can create a sort of clarity in cognition that would perhaps also make one more open and receptive to various details in a scene or question that may have been glossed over otherwise. Who knows? Interesting stuff.

I just made the previous statement to show the sillyness of the statement made by the topic starter.

Desire/willingness to learn, and ability to learn are two separate traits.

DMT, and any other activity that allows someone to see the world through a different perspective, I believe can increases the desire to learn, as you are exposed to "unknown unknowns". Things you didn't know you didn't know, and hence creates the realization of the possibility (and potential desire) to discover/learn more due to an understanding of how much out there is to know.

Increasing ability to learn though? Rely on nootropics for that. While I believe it's possible psychedelics, while in effect, can increase a person's mental abilities to learn/imagine certain ideas and concepts more easily, I don't believe there are any lasting increases in ability once the effects wear off.

It's always kind of saddening when I meet intelligent (referring to ability to learn) people, who have no desire/willingness to learn. Knew a girl once who really didn't know anything about the world, and didn't pretend to, and didn't care. If something had no direct observable effect on her life, she didn't think it was worth knowing. However anything explained to her she would learn very quickly, and she could fix most of the electrical issues a typical car owner might experience in their car, or a general electronics issues someone might have. Those things affected her directly, and she had no problem learning how to solve the problems herself, and it wasn't difficult for her.

I don't remember who suggested it,but I remember a theory that's popular nowdays stating that there are 9 (if i remember correctly) forms of intelligence.after careful thinking,I have to say I agree with this to a certain point.IQ does measure your ability to solve problems, but it doesn't measure for example your ability for critical though.

nicely said
The character Indoril_Nerevar is an artistic work of fiction, and thus all his claims and ideas are works of falsehood and fiction and should be treated likewise. There is no relation between Indoril_Nerevar and any real living or dead person, and any existing similarity or seeming relation is purerly coincidental.

dmt has shown me things I have never known before. I believe that alone should have made me "smarter" because i learned something new. Just like a book or class or field trip can teach you something new I believe the spice can be a good teacher as well
